Great episode !!

I really liked the alternative versions of theme songs we're already so familiar with. The Bjork version of "You Only Live Twice" is better than Nancy Sinatra's. All of my John Barry favorites were included but I think I would have added "Dawn Raid on Fort Knox". :)

Also I think they should re-release ALL the Bond films with a commentary track by both Joe Banks and Digitiki. That was some funny stuff !! Digitiki's Sean Connery impression sounds just like Mr. Howell. :D

The only thing I'm in great disagreement with is their dislike for "Diamonds are Forever" (the film not the theme song). They consider it one of the worst 3. It's my second favorite right after "Thunderball". Here's why:

  1. THE classic Shirley Bassey Bond Theme (but we all agree on that).

  2. One of the more clever plots in the series which leverages the "urban legend" surrounding Howard Hughes when he was holed up in the Desert Inn.

  3. I thought Jill St. John was great as one of the saucier Bond Girls. Also some of the most memorable cleavage with Lana Wood (playing Plenty O'Toole).

  4. Great period location shooting:

  • Downtown Las Vegas in all its early 1970's glory before the canopy and Steve Wynn's horrible exterior remodeling of the Golden Nugget.

  • Circus Circus when the trapeze acts were performed DIRECTLY over the casino (it was remodeled shortly afterward).

  • The super cool Mid-Mod Lautner-designed Elrod house (located in Palm Springs).

I'm looking forward to Part 2. :)
