That is the very one I saw several months ago & missed out on. Nice find kiara! You should post a pic of that guy in the cannibal & Kon Tiki Cleveland forums for posterity. Shit gets lost in this thread

N

With yard sale season in full swing I found these two, I was told the sun bleached tall one was over 40 years old.

Dynasty large leaf and small leaf bamboo mugs

And 3 swiZZers

H

Just got this mug from Three Dots and a Dash, it is amazing, really nice.

Found this over the weekend.
Thanks to some help on FB I know it's Polynesian Pottery, but nothing like it on OM.
I'll add once I take better pics.

T

Pauly, that's the Tortuga mug from Trader Vic's, Honolulu.

Way Kool

Nice Jon, at dem prices I coulda afford my habit.
Mahalo

Found this round formica table in Springfield, MO a couple months back. The artwork is actually embedded into the table. I thought it might be some sort of bizarre one-off thing, but posted it to the Texas Tikiphiles FB page and someone said there's a couple of them at a bar here in Austin. So presumably these were mass produced? Anyone know anything about them? I'm trying really hard to find a spot in my home for it. I think it's so cool!

T

Wow! That is very cool!

Mike, I saw one here in the kansas city area a few years back but I didn't buy it because I didn't have a spot for it. As I recall it was the same image but the table top was square and it had a different base. So they are out there but just don't know their history....yet!

I think I have seen the image on other things too, maybe a menu or napkin....I bet Dusty or Sven know more.

The table image is a take on an image from the Trade Winds in Tulsa Oklahoma as seen in this thread. And a photo from DC's collection.

Hello all! First post on the forums here. I was driven to finally sign up after a long period of lurking after a stretch of luck in the field.

Considering I'm in the middle of Coal Country, PA, it's a rare thing to come across anything resembling tiki, Hawaiiana, or even nautical items that aren't Hummel figures. That's why I'm convinced I must have been granted a small boon by the gods of tiki after suddenly finding this lot within the space of two days!

Hawaiian Island Products 1974 "Hawaiian Hula Dancer" resin & lava ashtray (or, as the S.O. calls it, an "ass-tray"). Inexplicably found at a nearby flea market that has more of a reputation as a place to find discount seconds boxes of sandwich bags. She had seen significant use over the years, but a good cleaning and judicious application of shoe polish to the interior of the bowl has brought her back to her former satin-y lustre.

Only a day later, the antique co-op across the street from our house held their annual spring festival. One of the stands was an LP trader. I almost passed him by, but the crazy thought of "you never know, there could be a Les Baxter album or something hiding in there" crossed my mind. Color me surprised when not only did my first Martin Denny crate dig appear:

But several more exotic discs were uncovered as well! (I am particularly fond of the Drum Suite)

Let's see if the streak continues!

Oh man! Chant of The Witch Doctors is such a cool tune!

After finding the 2 giant tikis I've been in a slump... but today was good.

At first I thought she was the biggest Coco Joes-HIP piece ever, but then I saw the maori necklace. She's awesome. really heavy. Ive never seen one before.

old palm log flat back tiki

4 trader vics mugs, (don't appear to be old ones) kahiki matches, coco joes, and a kcco little junk tiki

Erich,

Here's a little more info on the history of that statue:

Thanks man!

Wow Jon, did you burgle a record shop?
Later ; > )

Small tiki finds today.

Treasure Craft Tiki statue from 1959, Orchids of Hawaii tiki glass and vintage Trader Vics salt & pepper shaker set.

David :)
No sir, all at one goodwill
Would have had more but the stupid price tags messed up a bunch!
When will they learn, NO Nasty Pricetags on the album covers....

Funny
While I was slowly taking off all the price tags to see which ones wouldn't be ruined,
A girl walked by and said "you know you're wasting your time taking off the price tags, they're all the same price."
I said "thanks, I'm not trying to rip off goodwill for a few cents, but I'm not buying the albums if the price tag rip the covers"

Yard sale
0.75
Lady said she bought it like 40 yrs ago

Unused hot plaque

Interesting pic on that plaque I was there in ’66 and the tallest bldg. on Waikiki was the Royal Hawaiian as I recall. No bldg’s at the south end of diamond-head either.
I hate those darn price labels-always placed in the worst possible spot. On albums I have had a lot of luck by heating the label with an iron (no steam). They’ll usually peel off easily. Any adhesive residue can be removed with a little alcohol on a paper towel.
I bet you gave that clerk at the Goodwill the stinkeye real good

Hang10tiki, that,s so cool you found a bunch of Larry Rivera albums. I met him about 8 years ago when I was on vacation on Kauai. He was performing at the hotel I was staying at. Such a nice guy and still had a good voice. He still lives there I believe.

Finky- Awesome...

Used record dealers rely on zippo fluid to loosen old price stickers and remove the glue.

While in San Diego this past weekend I added to my barware. My wife added to our dinnerware which I posted in Beyond tiki finds.
This mug may already be posted but I could not find it.The inside is glazed in a pale mustard color and the pix do not do this awesome mug justice. I got it from John at the CityBeat Fest at the Bali Hai.

Here is the mug with some of my other B H stuff

Tommy Bahama has these Dbl Old Fashion’s for 20 bucks (box of four)

Adam- good tip

Have one but could always use another
Got it home
It's 4.5 inches tall

A reproduction of a TEAL poster I found in Auckland a few weeks ago, just back from the picture framer's:

Club, Dat poster is so cool! Frame is perfect for it imho. Mahalo for sharing.

Thanks! I found that frame in a charity store a few months ago and knew it would be useful for something...

Got a pretty nice score while I was in Orange, CA over the weekend!

Found this absolutely awesome little enamelled plate/saucer at the thrift store today.

Finally hit the goldmine! We had a productive day at the flea/farmer's market today... including the original Twilight Zone DVD box sets 3, 4, and 5, thus completing my collection... and I passed up some generic Libbey Tiki mugs to find a set of souvenir carvings from New Zealand. Got them for a pretty decent price, since I think the lady selling them was just happy to see someone who was actually interested in them!

Thanks David, i love it. Not the type of thing i'd ever expect to find.

And sadly, i don't know. Unfortunately it won't be any time soon.

It's another big Community Yard Sale weekend around here. Persistant crate-digging turned up a couple Hawaiian albums in good condition, and a 10-inch proto-Exotica album to boot!

Good stuff all
