Tiki Finds

I don't find things often but when I do it's usually a 'happy pee-pee dance'occasion.

I just found this adult size okole maluna airline bag in a antique store that sells mostly toys...for $10! And it's in nearly perfect condition!

Anyone every seen one of these ? Witco ? measures 49" long and is very well made.

That bag is sweet!

YES i have that sword and the hook and chain to hang it.

But last week, while in San Francisco for Tease-O-Rama, I was finally able to see firsthand a copy of the 'Art Forms of the Pacific Area' that Michael Covarrubias had done for the 1939 San Francisco World's Fair. I felt I had better purchase this print while I had the chance, even though the Hukilau venders were only one week away. Being a Geography major, an ex-cartographer, and one who appreciates tiki, I felt this was something that had been destined to accompany me home.

I purchased this in an antique store, where this particular print was not even on display. But the shop owner saw my interest in another Covarrubias Pacific print, and pulled several more out of a dresser drawer for me to look at. This one was by far my favorite.

i haven't found another tiki, per se...but i have found a naeighbor who does carvings. and wouldn't you know it, he's made a few tikis in his day. he's actually working on one for me (in one of his 70's carving pattern books), a "hawaiian war god." even if that's not the actual name, i know you guys are pretty sure of what i'm talking about. i'll post pics when it's done.

Excellent find there, Vern! Looks like you made a killing this vacation trip to the Bay area. Nice meeting you at Trader Vic's too.

I also like the Witco key I found. But I haven't decide on whether I'm gonna sell it or keep it yet....

That green dish is mighty nice, Slacks. There's a similar one in Tiki Quest, p. 162, without the face details on the sides.

Saw this small table lamp at a mall antique sale today. Didn't buy it but I'm quite tempted.

It appears to be made of some sort of plastic or resin. Anyone seen one of these before? They're asking $95.

Hey SweetDaddyTiki, I think that is a pretty cool lamp with Maori and Hawaiian tikis. I would love to see close-ups of all the sides. Not sure if it is worth $95, but maybe worth more. hard to say. So far I really like it. Thanks for sharing.

Sweetdaddytiki, I saw this a couple of times on ebay, made of polystone ... maybe under maori lamp* aloha, hoku

I found these at Rhino Records in Claremont, Calif. I know that Exoticat was looking for some tiki bandaids awhile back. These were $4.99 for 25 bandaids.

My first real TIKI MUG.
I know it ain't no big thing , but it makes me happy.
I had a tiki "church key" ( aka bottle opener .) But lovingly and happily gave it to Exoticat for her TIKI room!
I have silly plastic TIKI tumblers for the poolside, but this is my first REAL TIKI MUG.
( I'm made happy by simple things it appears.)

p.s. thats my KOZMIC kiddle I found at a flea market for 25 cents standing with the mug, he just seemed to fit so well.

Congrats! But you realize you have just entered a world of all-consuming mug collecting addiction. Luckily, Tiki Central is the perfect support group for such an addiction.By the way, that little character in front of the mug is cool. Reminds me of some kind of Jetsons fairy or something.

I think one of my first boner-fried tiki mugs was that Daga dude. I do dig that design.

That liddle fella is a KOZMIC KIDDLE, they were tiny dolls that were around in the 60's & 70's.
The kozmics are my favorites

I have a TIKI switch plate coming soon... I figure if I do it gradually the hubby won't notice the change to the basement.

My wife just found this purse at a thrift store in Milwaukee for $1.90!

It also doubles as a backpack.

Yesterday, I found this OoH lava bowl at a little antique joint and the tiki time guy on the left was a birthday present I got from a friend. It plays a funky song and drums on the skulls. It even includes a drum solo. :)

My eagle eyed wahine spotted this today 2 minutes after walking in the door at the Goodwill. She has found ALL my best mugs.

So I take it these things are kinda rare?
It's not Tiki Farm. It's old, and it's Trader Vic's.

I think she did good today.

I beleive that the decanters came in two sizes. A very nice find, especially with the top still in place.

there was a series of lamps like this I believe, mainly available from overseas...the theme was the same but with different warriors and tikis...i had a black lamp base just like yours but it had one maori style tiki with a single warrior standing in front of it....it was purchased on ebay years ago from a seller in australia...wonder if that's where they were produced....

It makes me CRAZY to see what some people find...like that TV decanter Seamus' wahine found. That's an AMAZING find!!

So here is the latest. I haven't hit the thrift shops lately as they are mobbed due to Halloween but I had an early day at work so I thought I would stop by. A nice black velvet painting. I paid $4.00 for it.
