Actually Its Korean. These are the stone grandfather (µ¹Çϸ£¹æ) statues from Jeju Island, Korea.

Word up Sweet Daddy Tiki, hows it going? Looking forward to talking with yah again!! Should be a good little show! We are doing a bunch of different things for the show so make sure you check us out! As for the bottle, no it is not the "Ti-Toki" but almost exactly the same. Just a bit smaller and no markings whatsoever. The bottles I've seen usually are marked into the mold on the base and some still have the stickers on them.

Yes, there are hobbyist versions around, nearly always in this thick green glaze and without the crisp detail of the older version. Your carved piece with the 3 holes is possibly a dart holder - I have seen similar ones before....

A friend found this at a flea market at Starke, Florida. The sticker at the bottom says
"WCTC Hand made in Palau Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands." That apparently puts it into
a time span of the late 1940s to mid 1980s" when the "trust territory" was abolished. What
do you think

My latest Tiki find (not vintage, obviously they are new) but I like them!

they are lightweight made of resin of some sort. Birdhouses, each has a little perch just underneath the hole. 11 1/2 " tall by just under 6" wide and has a hanging string.

I found them at Rite Aid. They were 14.99 each and I thought that was pricey, but there was a sign on the shelf that said buy one get one free for the windchimes (but they were close by) and I noticed they were different and couldn't decide which one I like more. I told the guy at the check out who was flirting with me, so I used my "charms" and got them both for $14.99. Hee hee, sometimes it pays to flirt...

My Tiki Husband chose the one one on the right, so our good friends will get a present on Sunday when we visit and they make us Tortugas!! I love Sundays....

Mrs. BH and I had a very good day thrifting and antiquing in Minneapolis/St. Paul yesterday. On the barware side, L-to-R: Paul Marshall "Peanut" mug, souvenir Hurricane glass with box from the Kapok Tree Inn in Florida, and a souvenir Old-fashioned glass from Hawaii that I'm guessing by the style of artwork, dates from the '70s.

We also found this Australian aboriginal painting on eucalyptus bark, done sometime in the 1950s by Bob Berarangu of the Wulaki tribe. The scene depicts a frog and 2 freshwater turtles. The mask is of unknown provenance:

Finally, I couldn't pass up this souvenir LP from the Polynesian floorshow at the Bora Bora Room of the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. The music is great, and I'd be happy to rip it to MP3, if anyone's interested:

I had a great day today...

Just a tiny bit over 2 feet and some type of heavy wood, not sure... The dealer touched him up with some Old English so he smells a little funny & is shiny in some spots!

all in all a fabulous tiki kind of weekend for me.

I was driving to work and I passed and estate sale setting up....a few blocks later I doubled back--a Phillipino family jackpot of south seas objects--
This wood relief was under a table! I got an intersting mollusk on display, two Maori warrior bookends, vintage working blender...it sure beat work.

Have not seen them signed, but these Pitcairn carvings are very nice. That one looks rather old. They are usually marked at Pitcairn Islands on them so you know when you see one.

The official start-up of building my converted garage tiki bar "Chattarunga" Yoga people will know this as the position for women "Go down into Chattarunga"! My Zen will be the same except I will be having a drink instead of trying to twist and contort my body into a pretzel! Sorry for intrusion but I really like the word "Chattarunga" and even though my wife has suggested numerous other names, I am sticking with "Chattarunga".

And yes, that is a Spiderman Hoppity Hop in the background of the picture of the soon-to-be Chattarunga and when you come over for a drink you are welcome to go for a bounce!

The last couple of weeks have been very productive in our search for tiki artifacts in the Midwest. My wife and I have junked together, alone and with other family. No matter where we go, it seems we find somthing. These finds represent the last month or so of junk'n.

Here are a few items I found on a trip to my hometown. Orchids of Hawaii faceless hula girl mug, Trader Vics coconut, Siestaware wooden handle mug, small Hawaii glass, small tiki cup and a cup marked "kava cup" Hawaii.

Now here is a unique box I also found at a antique mall in my hometown.

On the inside of the lid is a plate that reads "Corp. L.K.Reitz U.S. Marine Corps Club 1945 Auckland N.Z."

Now when I read this name to my parents, they knew this man. They said he had been a neighbor and they had even bought part of the property that I grew up on from him.

Here are some items my wife found on a recent trip. These items include: Treasure Craft Hawaii plate, two mugs, assorted salt & pepper shakers including a pair from Kon Tiki Ports. I think the best find was the Coco Joes Hula girl ash tray.

This group of items includes the first decanter I've found in the wild and the first tiki oil lamp we've found in the wild.

Here are some items including my first Treasure Craft tiki and our first westwood salt & pepper shakers.

This is a great tiki I believe he's made from lava

And finally, here is another decanter I found recently. I know it's missing the pineapple crest, but I thought it was cool.

Well, I'm officially back after my hibernation (next week sometime I should have a Grand Member thingie beside a hopefully-changed name) so I thought I'd start here with a lucky score.
A regular sidewalk seller here on the Drive in Van. had some stuff out undercover from the rain & after scoring a 1952 Theatre Arts w/Aud. Hepburn on the cover ($2), I noticed something rather tiki-like and familiar peeking out from some large manila envelopes...

...two London Hilton T.Vic's menus, years unsure - copyright 1962 w/a DGS 10M.3.63(which signifies....?) in the rum-barrel & a copyright 1951 in the brown cover. Gladly handed over $8 for the pair after suppressing a spasmodic irregular heartbeat.
The two statues gracing the sides aren't at all tiki but they wouldn't stay out of the picture. $5 for the both of those.

I was looking for a tiki-ish lamp ... didn't find one. But I did find this at the Salvation Army store:

He has a rather significant crack, a chip, and needs some serious cleaning and tlc, but for $1.50 I couldn't pass him up! Yay! A Tiki Bob in the wild for $1.50. My best find ever!

A week back up north after Hukilau and I have found more up here than a week spent all over south Florida lookig through about twenty thrift stores. Found very little in the sunny south. I picked up about a thousand matches in one giant lot this weekend and these are a few of the good ones.

Where the hell did you find it? I am seriously jealous! I have searched antique malls and flea markets in Nashville for one of those for years. I am planning to put up wanted posters at the next flea market. And you buzz through and get one...

The last one went on Ebay about 3 years ago for $600. The Mahi Mahi was built by Eli Hedley. That mug is their signature design which also appears on their menu and postcard and I assume was a carving at the restaurant. Lots more here. ANd a little more here.

What does the Blue Hawaii swizzle look like? I have the matchbook.

A few fun finds today included a black velvet painting of an idyllic tropical scene that was brought over from the Philippines I'm considering having a tiki painted on the beach for effect. Also found a clean copy of the soundtrack of the film Diamond Head that will make it's debut on the turntable tonight. The oddball find of the day was this half full bottle of Bay Rum toiletry that lists its alcohol contents at 55%. I wonder how many people went blind drinking this wood alcohol by mistake? But I wonder how they marketed a scent that make you smell like a rummy.

I picked up this hibachi at an antique store a couple of weeks ago for $8. They had it labeled as a planter. Only problem is that it doesn't have the grill grate anymore. Anyone know where I could look to find a replacement grate for it?

You may be able to find a cast iron drain cover that would work. Take the measurements with you to one of the "do it your self stores". They may have something that will fit. I think the original grate was cast iron but I may be mistaken. LOL.

I hsven't been out looking too much lately...Was down in Modesto, hi cleen and Jungle Trader. :)

Didn't find anything worthwhile in Motown, I did get a second "Minnie's" mug, (the brown one this time).

I did pick this up...an Islander Blue Glass Float Lamp! 66" in diameter and extremely heavy, not to mention expensive...There is another one (purple) available.


I have no idea where I'm going to hang this baby! Maybe next to the other two that look exactly like this inside my trousers! :}

So I picked this little guy today... Never seen one like it before.
It measures about 3.5 inches high, red clay with white glazed rim and inside and the raised faces on the outside are glazed.
As you can see the bottom has "Trader Vic" stamped into it.
Does anyone have any info on this one?

Here goes my first attempt to post on Tiki Finds. I had to share this guy. Set up shop at a Hot Rod/Rockabilly/Kustom Kulture show yesterday. Made a little money & bought some things: a nice 50's cooler, some dice from the Stardust,(RIP), & this guy. He's about 9 3/4" tall and he's dated & signed on the bottom with Lono Maui 1999 Tevita. I ain't no dadgum NASA employee but I'm guessing location, date & artist. Anyone have any thoughts or info? This is the first Tiki I've found in the wild & I think he was worth the $25.00 I paid for him. I would appreciate any feedback.

I thought about getting one just like it if you did not, which I saw at Alameda.

I did end up buying a two person tiki bar there however. I hope to post pictures (I know, I always say that...:) )
