have a bunch of tiki finds from the last few months. First up are these 6 bamboo glasses with swizzle sticks that either have a "w" or "m" on them. Anyone have any info on them?

close up

various mugs, vintage napkins and a map of Easter Island in case I ever go there.

CJ

Tiki-Ti uses them thar napkins

My grandmother gave me this so long ago I can't remember, But he's a little Tiki matchbox holder. He was given to her in 1967 & he came from New Zealand there was also another little guy with him but he got lost somewhere along the line. I have fond memories of those two little Tiki always sitting on my grandmothers display ever since I can remember, I was always drawn to them. and now to find out there at least 40 years old is realy cool. I also have two muggs I found three years ago they have a made in the Philipines sticker on the base but I cant make out the hand written number on it, any ideas about these anyone ? My local pet shop has some Moai about 100 -150 milimeters tall for fish tanks. will check the price soon & mabey get some. cheers all, Chippieleigh.

Tiare, I think those may be Western Airlines swizzles but I can't tell from the angle they're at.

Hanford, good to hear from you. This post is for YOU! (It is post Nr. 5000) :)

Looked like a Tiki to me. I found out it's an ELZAC Bonnet Head fashion pin, circa 1940s.

It's a Tiki. Isn't it?

BIG BIG Wahine Score for me!

Sho' iz! If that's not a Tiki, than Witco never carved Tikis! Are you sure it's 40s and not 50s?

I believe that is a Rongo bowl (Tiki Room).

Dang, I was sure it was older than me! Sure nuf though, that Elzac was a California Company that was out of business by 1947, about the time things were looking good for Tikis

Here are a few of my recent finds in the Springfield Missouri area. It's kind of surprising how much stuff finds it's way into the Ozarks.

This guy makes two that I now have of the set of four, unknown, unmarked, tiki coffee cups.

OMC palm tree bowl in fantastic condition!

The coolest find, I think, was this teapot marked "Hawaii Kai." I have the other coffee set pieces, but still missing the mugs!

Classic Silver Line Boats

[ Edited by: SilverLine 2008-11-01 10:53 ]

The only thing I found today I haven't posted pictures of already...

Back of the album cover features ads for the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel, The Bora Bora Room,Don the Beachcomber at both the Waikiki Beachcomber and The Royal Lahaina Resort, The Veranda Restuarant, The Surfboard Lounge and The Kona Beach Luau at The Hotel King Kamehameha in the Kailua Village/Kailua-Kona Island of Hawaii.

It's a candle holder. It was designed by Elisabete Gomes and was released in 2005.

Here's a few recent finds:
This one, my first from the Mai Kai, found in an Indiana goodwill store. I'm so proud!

Next, found in my mailbox, the mug I ordered from Suffering Bastard in Maine in support of the MS Society.

Then, this pineapple pitcher. It's eight inches high and has "Va. 1969" scratched on the bottom.

This music maker plays "Tiny Bubbles" and has an engraved plate on the other side that says, "S.E.I.U. 16th Convention Hawaii April 1976".

Up in Traverse City, Michigan the other week and found this one from the Kahiki in Columbus. Spent $10 for it gladly, 'cause it's my first from that famous spot.

O

Nice score. These were fairly common, being produced for the tourist trade, and came in a box with cover art and a little brochure. The one i have, which looks different form yours only because the tapa piece for the sail is cut from a different section of the print, was used for a photo shoot in Beachbum Berry's Sippin Safari. When i get a chance, i will get the info on the box for you, the box which is currently residing in my storage unit.

That looks like an older Outrigger to me.. There fairly common you can buy the boxed kits still but mostly you see the ones in the bags like in the picture, similar but a little smaller for under 10 $$. The tapa cloths vary in colors/shades too..

Wasn't Coco Joe's originally a hut-like store front? I recall seeing a photo with a similar background.

That what it was all about - a middle-aged balding guy getting some sugar from two young wahines!

S

Heres my additions for the last couple of weeks.

Two Benihana mugs and an Orchids R-71, caught in the wild. The two shots are from the 'Bay. The one on the right is familiar to me, but I can't remember from where.

Skipper Kent's Princess Keolo, also from E-Bay.

Slow weekend again...winter is settling down on the tiki finds...

Amber "Comedy and Tragedy" two-faced tiki mug and small wood carved Maori tiki.

A couple of Daga mugs; "Menehune Magic", Sheraton Kauai and Fierce tiki Maui Lu Lu Au Kihei-Maui.

Another large Outrigger bowl from the Islander Stockton. This one was free, the guy I bought some other stuff from gave it to me because the bottom is chipped.

Half gallon sized black Okolehao Hawaiian liquor bottle. This is the first one I have found this size that is plastic.

Tiki Hibachi.

Souvenir photo from a place called the Cafe Zanzibar. Was located on Broadway and 49th in New York City. Picture is dated November 22, 1946 on the back.

Haven't been finding too much lately. Here's today's few finds.

Tiny shot glass/mug.

Souvenir photos.

Postcard of the Captains' Inn in Long Beach. Includes a photo of the stairway leading to The Hukilau. (sorry about the poor quality, no scanner)

first edition , TRADER VIC'S book of FOOD and DRINK.
1946 MINT CONDITION

well. I'm not a mug collector, never was, but had a big mug collection anyway. they were all given to me by non tiki friends over the yrs. Then I sold them all to dogbytes and thought i was done with it. HA I swear I have just as many as I had before, again all given to me by non tiki friends. Last week i was given a set of 6 Westwood mugs, which were always some of my favorites anyway.

Slim pickins' around here lately! The weekend before my Vegas trip I managed this United Airlines Trader Vic Recipes book, pretty neat:

A coupla $1.00 shell necklaces. I'll hang 'em in the bar somewhere!

My first piece of monkey pod. Worth a buck!

I'll post my Vegas finds next!

Vegas, Baby!!!
A Westwood shot glass & a couple from Mandalay Bay:

A nice Coco Joe's hula girl:

A great bucket mug from the Hana Hou Room & really nice green glazed Trader Dick's style mug. It is engraved with what appears to be L&C 79 on the bottom & is a bit smaller than the Trader Dick's mug. Any thoughts? Homemade?

I also scored a mint Aku Aku mug with OMC label intact on the bottom, as well as, a Jimmy C. Tiki Farm 2003 Hard Rock Vegas mug.

Whilst at SEMA, I bought this kool bronzed shrunken head from Jimmy Flintstone:

My final Vegas purchase & my first tiki of any substantial size:

God Bless the guys in baggage handling at Jet Blue! They couldn't have been too happy with that 68 pound Tiki-filled duffel bag, but he made it back to Boston safe & sound! Thanks for the great Tiki, Lee! I'll be back for more next year!
Upon my arrival home, there were a coupla things waiting for me at my local hot spot!

I'm off to the basement to start removing that dropped ceiling!

My guess would be well-made home-made on the green guy. The flat bottom and smaller size are the clues. If a mold was made of an existing "peanut" mug, the product of that mold will be smaller than the original due to the shrinkage of the slip clay as it dries. Really nice glaze, though. That's a keeper!

I picked up a pair of those a couple months back:

Hey, Buzzy! Where'd ya get those? It really is a nice mug with a great glaze! I left one behind because of space constraints in my suitcase & the giant tiki in my duffel bag!

I think these were produced in 1979.

Coco Joe missing half a brain!

[ Edited by: Coco Joe 2008-11-12 19:26 ]

Well, I think this was a killer find.
Always wanted a copy of "Oceanic Art" by Anthony JP Meyer. Searched EBAY but they always seemed to finish at crazy money & then the shipping! I'm talking the single copy BTW. So- I searched Amazon & found one in "acceptable" condition for cheap! I'm talking $24.75 plus 3.50 shipping. I buy & then wait. And I wait. After about 6 weeks, I get an Email from the seller. He tells me the copy he had after further investigation- was a pretty shabby copy w/ torn pages & a damaged spine. He said he didn't feel right selling me this one so he was sending me another- in a slipcover w/ 2 volumes in like new condition for same price.
About a week later it shows up.
Are you kidding me? It's like brand new! Book is pristine & looks like it's never even been looked at.
Pretty good score if you ask me. And..... for under 30 bucks!!!!

Found this aquarium tiki thing in an antique store in a case. Looked like it was in there forever. Neon orange- something about it I liked. No markings. Paid 5 bucks for it.

..this is not an aquarium item ...i wouldn't put it in a tank. it was a votive candle holder produced and sold by spencer gifts a few years back....there is a separate base that came with it that held the tea light candle in place..they came in neon orange and blue.....i think they sold for less than $5 new....
