HOK

You are correct. It is a marlin bill. Thanks.

Great day...

6 pounds of glass

my first Witco, needs some work...

Found this in Key West, from the HUKILAU.
It once hung in the main dinning room.7ft.long

here's some smalls from today's estate sale.....

and I'm still reeling from this craigslist score - three rattan circular shelf units with glass shelves. The largest is 42" dia (I put a beer can in it for scale) - the other 2 are 36" and 30" dia. These might make a nice place to store booze on the wall behind the bar.

and this chunk swag lamp I picked up......

Tipsy, your good fortune runith over!

For the last four years, I have been very curious about a painting my friend has hanging in his office. When I first asked him about it, he dismissed it as, "I'm not really even sure where that came from." Today I finally took a picture of it and did a google search on the artist. As it turns out "Richmond Kelly" went by "Dick Kelly" professionally, working as an art director at Walt Disney for several years (I'm sure many of you knew this, but I had no idea.) I'm sure my friend inherited the painting somehow from his own father, who was a Disney exec for several years. It's a great painting, and I love the framing. Even though my friend doesn't "know anything about it," I doubt if he will let me take it off his hands ;)

It's like if Mary Blair and I decided to hang out together in the Thunderdome.

Suntory decanter from the 1982 Hawaiian Open. Still in original box. Woohoo!

The coolest find ever. I purchased a vintage hawaiian album and noticed it was signed and given to a friend. after reading the 5 page insert and noticing the album was not for sale and a promo piece,I then noticed the person that wrote the note inside to a friend was the band leader and vocal supervisor Ken Darby.

Who?

So the only guy who didn't actually play on the album was the only guy who signed it...
Nice score, But only if is it a white label promo. Otherwise it's just some old record with a stamp and pen mark on it.

tedtiki: Since I just got the UA Hawaii map with the tiki frame a few weeks ago, that decanter is my new holy grail. Nice score! I hope you paid $8 for it too...

Buzzy Out!

A friend of mine went to New Zealand and brought me one of these.

I agree, this is only the second time I have seen this "Tiki Temple" decanter here...

I would love to see it photographed from all angles!

And THESE are not that common either:

I saw the one ted got on ebay a while back- went for huge money and the drum decanter is on ebay now. It keeps getting relisted, probably due to the price. (buy-it-now) but it too has the original box, so ted, if you read this and want to add to your collection, grab it.

actually- i just looked at the listing and noticed it's local pick up only - in hawaii. too bad you didn't check ebay before you left for hawaii.... you could have picked this up while you were there as well...

Yeah, I know the one you're talking about. I'm not shelling out $194 for it though.

Very pleased to find this Ren Clark "Virgin's Lament" mug in an antique mall yesterday. I'll be pushing aside a few "Tiki Leilani's" to make room for her.

Great score Bongo! Hope you got a good deal!

Thanks Sandy! Well, I'd like to say I got this one for 50 cents, but not quite. She was a little more expensive. Nothing like I've seen on ebay though.

I bought this 2' wood carving by Frank Schirman:

Not bad for 20 bucks or so...

Found this weekend...1950's Duke of Hollywood Aloha shirt and not a hole or spot on it

Hi there, I am new to the collecting of Tiki Culture Artifacts. I found this website because i really like Exotica music and started lurking. Anyway, I got interested in the collecting angle because of threads like this. I went on my first hunt today in Fort Worth, Texas, and came home with this tiki fork and spoon. I know that there are a bunch of different makers of this item. Does anyone know some specifics about this particular fork and spoon set; i.e., manufacturer and date range? There are zero maker's marks on these.

Also, any tips on cleaning these items?

Mahalo!

I few items over a couple weekends.
A couple of ceramic Rarotonga Tangaroa. About 9" tall.

A painting/serigraph(?) with hand painted flowers and lava lava on board of two wahine by Bunnell. 24" x 32" Guessing it is Charles Ragland Bunnell. Bunnell was born in 1897. The same year Gauguin started his "Where Do We Come
From?...." piece.

PNG story board.

Thanks for the Link, Sven!

Found a few more things today: A Trader Vic's Chinese Country Cooking menu, and my very first tiki Mug; a Westwood.

Really nice, Quiet! That Westwood mug is one of my all-time favorite designs... and I do own a couple of them myself.

todays finds

Tonga Room with OMC sticker and beautiful cold paint on the earrings...like new:

Not really so much of a find, because I got this in a trade...

Ceramic lantern made by Sascha B from Aloha Jhoes Palm Springs CA.

Thank you to person who advised me on this trade. Much appreciated!

Later,

PTD

Wow, PTD. I'm thinkin' that's a rare one.

That's pretty wild, D!

Nice trade on the Aloha Jhoe's candle holder. It is rare.

: )

A friend sent me a pic of this Moai pot planter yesterday when he was at a garden centre so i went down today a bought one. (Mug for size reference.)

I've had this for quite awhile and was preparing to upload it to Ooga but there aren't any for comparison.
Were there handleless Mai Kai coffee mugs? Or were there candle holders on the tables that were made by Harper? There are no marks on the bottom and the candle smells of vanilla. It is 3" tall.

Mahalo for any info.

todays finds...good day

With both the Friends Of the Library 10,000 LP records sale & the Hawaii Collector's One-Day Wiki Wiki sale happening this weekend, there were plenty of treasures to be had...but my pockets are pretty empty these days, so I have only a few meager things to add....
A lovely post card reading "Sun-ripened & sweet-a golden girl with a golden Hawaiian fruit."

This tiki necklace (CoCo Joe)

And several records of interest, which I posted under the "Show Us Your Record Collection" thread.

While driving around in a Miata,
Floats were found, enough for a regatta! :o
Tried to fit them all in,
But much to my chagrin,
My balls were left incommunicada.

Or not. :D

Another sweet Witco find...

If I can't hang them side by side somewhere I am gonna have to sell one!

Later,

PTD

Excellent! These puppies are HUGE...I would be interested in the extra if so happens.

Wow...good shopping for Duane :tiki:

Nice balls Bill :o

Thats what she said!

Oh boy, look who I found at this rummage sale today! I gladly gave them their $1.50 :)

He's 10" tall and looks great at my house.

picked these up recently...... universal statuary wall hangings.

I'll admit that the tiki gods have been smiling on me lately but I wasn't expecting this.
Found at Value Village, $7.99 for the pair. Stunning condition.

Found this Brown Sam's Seafood Spurlin Fogcutter at the Alameda Point Antique Fair yesterday...

HOLY CARP! There's some big fish gettin' reeled in these days! Congrats everybody!

This is a special page for sure. I didn't even know that the Spurlin existed. Thank you for the photos.

We were at the Tonga Hut and Don the Beachcomers this weekend. We had the best time hanging out with SoccerTiki, WooHooWahini, HB Tiki and his wife Margee.

We bought a lot of beautiful new tikis but we did find one vintage tiki. bigbrotiki was at my side when I bought it.

Anyone have information? Wendy
