Brimfield Thursday wasn't nearly as exciting as Wednesday, but I didn't get skunked!

OK, back to the stuff I neglected to post when I found it. A few more "usual suspects":

Went thrifting, a few weeks ago, & scored six LPs & a hat that will become a lamp, eventually.:

Never had any hurricane glasses in my collection, until recently. I scored this fairly new hurricane glass from Kowloon along with this HIP Original Hula Girl:

Worked a trade with my buddy, Pete, for these two hurricane glasses. One is from Hukilau Lounge in Key West & the other is from Black Tahiti in Washington, D.C. I've seen very little from either of these places, so I was glad to score these glasses.

An Autographed Business Card. The name appears to be Harold Kabel. I know the owner's name was Harold, but his last name was Bloomfield. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Great Find Tiki David, every time I see these bars it reminds me of the movie Back to the Beach, there is a simular one set up on the beach.

Here is my find for the week, my son picked these up from an op shop for $2.00 each while on holidays in Coffs Harbour, Australia

Bamboo Bev Forgive my ignorance-whattsa "op shop" ? Other peoples? Old Persons? odd person?.... I can be any or all of them.

That is the scarf I called you about but forgot to bring over to show you--figured I should post it before I lose it somewhere amongst the clutter in my place.

Picked up this huge mask today.... weighs a ton. The previous owners painted this brown which is why it looks so clean.

I found this vintage tiki a few weeks ago next to a suburban backyard swimming pool.

Nice tiki Looks to be about a four or five footer. Is the bottom center rotted out? Did you saw it out from its site? Free advice; fill it with construction foam-($3-$4) . Keeps the critters out.

Thanks, it is 6.5 ft long but I did cut about 2 inches off the bottom due to the advanced rot. The bottom center also has rot but I cut most of it out with a hand saw. I was thinking of putting some Thompson's water sealer on it. Thanks for the advice I was wondering if I should fill up that space with something like that.

I have been watching it closely and so far I have seen no bugs only a few spiders. The tiki is real heavy.

The Tiki was attached to a fence with bailing wire. The fence and much of the tiki were overgrown with vines and plants.

Great find Abstract. You should contact Bongo Fury regarding the treatment of the Tiki. He just rehabbed the big guy from the Trade Winds.

D00d! I think that may have been part of the old decor that was ripped out of Tong's Polynesian Village back in the mid 90's! Excellent score Dave!!!! :D

All of these finds today came out of a house previously owned by Adriana Caselotti who was the original voice of Snow White. She passed away in 1997 and left the house to her best friend. According to the new owners, this best friend kept the house in it's time capsule condition. And of course, the new owners were totally gutting it! I wish I could have taken more pictures, but I was short on time. The place was incredible. Apparently, the house had a huge tiki bar, which was already gone by the time I got there. Can't wait to get them all hung and lit up!

I just posted a listing on craigslist yesterday and I believe those lamps were from the same house. she mentioned ships wheels and nautical stuff in the listing as well.... there were some great orchids of hawaii lamps.

I was actually the second person to call and got everything but the best three (in my opinion) Orchids Of Hawaii hanging lamps. Don't know who got those.

Guess I was the third to call. Congrats to you! Wish I could have seen the place before the gutting.

My haul today... we need more shelves!

I'm curious about the lamps - they are plaster or chalkwear, and have a few chips I hope I can fix or at least paint to match - We were told they were from Hawaii originally, but not sure how old (have old school plugs). We got a pair - only one shown. They have the original double shades and are so beautifully obnoxious! Any info about the lamps?

We also scored a little ceramic bamboo lamp with a woven shade, seven mugs and a pair of Coco Joe Moai Bookends, Plus a carved wood wall tiki.

Pic'd this approx. 15"x 20" signed and ltd. edition print at a local estate sale this morning. This fellas estate was a very large property with a separate garage , and a very large bldg. just for the bar/lounge. My heart was racing as I approached that bldg. but alas,no tiki. However, my Tiki Queen bought a pristine Elvis decanter (USS Arizona commenmorative,1961) Hopefully I'll be able to post both pix.

I had a pair of lamp bases just like those... sold them on ebay a few years back. It's debatable that those are the original shades but they fit the time period. mine did not have shades so I'm not sure what the original shades looked like. They lamp bases seem to have been mass produced but i don't know in what quantity. They may have even been made specifically by a local for a particular hotel or other tiki establishment back in the day which was not uncommon.

of course there's always the possibility that those lamps you have are indeed the ones I sold on ebay... I would need pics of the lamps without the lamp on using a flash so I can see the finish on these close up to know for sure.... and if they are, you might have the only pair of those on the planet cause' i haven't seen them again till now.....

I found this cool vintage shell sconce lamp on Facebook of all places... that's a first for me:

Dunno if the upper piece was intended to be a shelf - the triangular part doesn't look necessary, structurally.
It even had it's original purchase receipt tucked into one of the shells - how cool!

I can't make out the item description, but it looks like it was purchased in Tijuana in 1968.

Very nice lamp TB. What are the dimensions of your sconce? Interestingly, it appears that Mr. Prieto paid 25 dollars U S. I think that the 3188 figure is pesos with the 318 being the tax at 10%. Not cheap in 1968. Looks like Prieto lived at kilometer 28 1/2 on the old road to Ensenada. Item description has me scratching my gourd though.

Thanks David, the lamp is a big one - about 20x20x15 deep. It has real tapa cloth on it, so I can see how they could have charged a higher price. Another interesting detail is that each shell has a "Made in Japan" sticker on the back...

Some recent finds on the way home for lunch.

A nice Fankoma Clam Shell, the Big one.

The cool Kuo Wah green bucket mug.

A nice little palm tree lamp.

And a linen Pith Helmet from Brookstone, just because Rory shouldn't have all the fun wearing one.

Also got a nice rattan bookcase on Craigslist. Living in the garage, waiting for a spot to fill with Mugs, Coco Joes, and other such Tiki curious.

Have been finding lots of smaller stuff lately, but probably
the most interesting item is this PNG stone bladed axe.
The very nice older gentleman that I bought it off said that
he'd got it about 40 years ago while working there as an
agricultural consultant and thought that it was fairly old when
he bought it. So I'm guessing it's from around the 1950s/60s
He'd stuck down some loose weaving where the stone meets the
main body with some sort of white compound that I'll clean off
later.

Heh, yahoo for dumb luck!

Walked into a local liquor store yesterday to look for some new beer that hit the market. Found the beer and checked out, but on my way out I decided to take a look at the glassware collection as I hadn't in a while. Low and behold behind a bunch of beer glasses on a bottom shelf, invisible because of boxes stacked in front of it I see two Trader Vic's boxes priced at $20 each. Got #'s 55 & 56! Best part, they fit my new "strict" restriction of "Local, or Place I've Been, or Event, or Disney" as they say Hinky Dinks (love that!).

Bee-yooti-ful mugs FP !. If you get a chance post more pix of all sides and the bottom. Btw, tell us bout the "new beer". Yesterday at Stater bro.s here in Socal I Saw a case called "Island Hopper" distributed by Kona that has an assortment of 3 beers in it. Long board, Fire rock and I cannot recall the 3rd. i was in a rush an didn't grab a case-maybe today. It may just be a Memorial Day promotion.

The third beer in that pack you saw was likely Kona's Koko Brown, a brown ale brewed with toasted coconut, it's pretty tasty.

The beers I picked up yesterday are from a new brewery called Calibrew, the beers are named Oaktown Brown and Buzzerkeley. I love's me some beer!
