If you have "been following these forums for years" you sure do suck at paying attention.

Good grief.

Thanks for such a warm welcome SandraDee.

Hi, I am new to this forum but have been following for years. I just found my dream bar sign on ebay and I want it but not sure how much to pay, except what it's worth to me. I know its from the 1960's and I have never seen one like it before except in a book. It's listed as:

"Extremely Rare Tiki Primo Beer Lit Sign - Vintage Hawaiiana - Works Great!"

I saw another one in the forums here that was different but was priced at $8,888.88 !!! not sure where that price came from, but I think it was just hopeful!
let me know what you think. My top dollar is 2k. including shipping to MI.
thanks for any help!

Sorry, here is the link, didnt know if it was okay to post or not :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extremely-Rare-Tiki-Primo-Beer-Lit-Sign-Vintage-Hawaiiana-Works-Great-/200771656158?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebeec59de

...

Insider information tells me that BigStinkyTiki is actually the seller of this sign.

Listen BigStinkyTiki, there is nothing wrong with people posting their Tiki related ebay auctions in the Tiki Marketplace Forum, but for you to dishonestly present yourself in some feeble marketing campaign is just embarrassing on your part. Just post your auction in the Tiki Marketplace Forum, no more shenanigans, and we'll all try to pretend this never happened. Thanks.

T

Yeah, what Hak said you idiot. I was going to bid on your auction but not now. What a tool.

I have a question for you all.

I've never spotted a tiki mug out in the wild until yesterday. I was in NYC at the Hell's Kitchen Street fair and I spotted my first 3 mugs "in the wild." LOL I was excited just to see them but I was wondering how much people are paying for mugs at swap and flea markets, etc. Obviously, it varies but these weren't anything special, Orchids of Hawaii stuff. One was $5, which I passed on b/c it wasn't something I HAD to have and the other 2 were $10 ea. I would have bought them both for $5 ea but when I asked if she could do any better she said no so I walked.

I was just curious what these mugs general go for around the country....

Thanks!

Finds from last week.

Super rare and fragile Kono Hawaii cocktail umbrella like Tiki-Kate found back in 2009.. I'm saying "super rare" with the hope that a bunch turn up and prove me wrong. :)

Luau Restaurant letter opener, the little nail in the handle makes me wonder if there was some sort of gift shop desk set that this hung on?

Trader Vic's Book of Food & Drink and Okolemaluna!

Bongofury gets credit for finding the Trader Vic's book but was nice enough to add it to my handful of stuff.

Lovely Hawaii - The Polynesians.

Found this little guy,

and when you hand him the Super Rare Kono Hawaii Cocktail Umbrella he seems happy. Well actually he seems over it either way.

Polynesian Palace matches, Coco Palms Soap! Alan Hale's Lobster Barrel, Generic Don's, Hotel Bora Bora and the Sampan Lounge.

I was super excited about the Sampan for some reason and then I figured it out ~ Beachbum Berry's Remixed Page 74.

Check it out when you get a chance. :D

Buzzy,
Where are you finding these gems?
I wouldn't think there would be an abundance of yard sales out there in the middle of the desert !

I'm back in the tiki saturated area of SD now, where I usually pay $1-5 for found in the wild tiki mugs.
Buzzy Out!

thanks for the info, Buzzy! I thought $10 was a bit high....

Spent the weekend in Seattle thrifting with a great bunch of #thriftbreak Twitter friends. We came home with a pickup load of tiki goodness!

Close up of Cascadian Structures Inc Witco style art

I found this on the way to San Francisco today. I didn't get far (three miles) when I found this. I returned home and took some pictures. I don't know the origins. Can anyone help?

Wooden tiki mugs don't get much respect around here, but I've a good use for them.

I've a little tiki bar I re-assemble each spring on the deck of my lake cottage. I hang the wooden mugs and leave them out all summer. Ceramic mugs have to stay inside where they are safe. When taking a wooden mug down, you do have to check for spiders.

And then I started a Tiki Mug Club with the little kids in the family when they come over. They use the wooden mugs as they sip ice water with lime wedges and we make toasts about things we like.

Aloha,

Hi David, Good meeting you as well.
They are the old school torches the whole cone is the fuel container.
You fill them by removing the wick.
They should put out a pretty healthy flame.

FINALLY!!! I found some mugs in the "WILD". I couldn't believe my eyes in my local thrift shop here. 2 of them! $1 a piece. From what I searched out, they look like Orchids of Hawaii Ku tumbler mugs. Well, for me it was a real heart leaping experience to find these. Thanks all for your encouragement and wonderful posts of your finds!

Congrats! :) Yours appear to be Sang Kung Tiki Leilani mugs due to the base and since they don't have "Orchids....R-71" or R-74 written on the bottom. Orchids makes a version of what you have. It is a R-91.

Mahalo Mr. NoNaMe,

It looks like their were a few variations of these so-called "common" mugs according to ooga mooga, but-- I am stoked to have found them. Wished I knew how old they might be? Glad I found twins!

Can someone help me identify this tiki? I found it about a week ago travelling through Indiana and have not been able to find any information about it. I can't even get Google to recognize the phrase "Hale o Laau." Thank you in advance.

Poorly carved Hawaiian souvenir tiki made in the Philipines. hale o Laau is the company that distributed it.
Looks like someone added some extra eyes and another nose to it under bthe original eyes and nose.

Buzzy Out!

Thank you Buzzy! Yes, the nose and eyes seemed suspect to me...

Here is a pic of some stuff I've found "in the wild" (as some of you like to say) over the last month or two.... too lazy to take individual pics, so its a shot of it all in the cabinet. Not pictured is the randotti skull or the rumph mug...wouldn't want the "hey thats not tiki" response...

Scored these months ago. The Don Ho was scored separate but everything else was from the same stack of "stuff." I love the family pics, there's about 40 all with a description on the back.

Thanks for looking!!!
