This movie is going to be great:

But check out the TIKI behind Tony Alva's head (along the block wall) during his interview bites in the trailer:

Great stuff!
Not enough attention is paid to the link between surfing/skating and Tiki. A pub near my favourite surf spot on the Cornish coast has an great 'trophy' for a surf comp which has three moai's, each with a surfboard behind them. It really looks the business!

Surfing trophies are great Tikis sometimes. I remember a picture of Rusty Keaulana holding a hawaiian Tiki with a surfboard behind it, and his fiance in the other arm.
Oh, how much I want one of those!

The follow-up feature film (The Lords of Dogtown) has a quick moment of a Tiki as well: during one of the party scenes, probably the one at the Zephyr shop where Skip has his meltdown, there is a quick moment of several team riders holding up three or four mouthpieces from a blazing hooka to the mouth of a Tiki carving while chanting "Tiki, Tiki!" OK, ChuckM

My husband Big Mike used to make the trophies for the Hennessey's Paddle Board Competition in Hermosa Beach. They're concrete Moais with surfboards behind them - they would even stain them different colors, if I recall correctly, for 2nd and 3rd place. Everyone who participated got a little mini version of the trophy. The 1st place trophy was a gigantic concrete cup with tikis and surfboards all around... will have to find a pic, it's really cool. They did it for the Long Beach Paddleboard competition as well. (Last I heard Hennessey's was handing out coffee mugs in place of trophies. Sad.)

I'm wondering if he still makes concrete moai or at least has some of the molds left; I recently purchased a really nice concrete moai on Ebay from a business called castinstone4u; I'm pleased with it but curious about what else is out there. Oh, took a look at your link, that pretty much answers that question! Nice work, Chuck
