Are you sure you were carving in the video, or performing surgery on wood?

[ Edited by: GROG 2013-07-16 18:57 ]

Pretty much done minus the finish.

Look at that precision! Are you...are you a cyborg? :o

Thanks Jonesy. I haven't forgotten, I still owe you a club.

It's been a good weekend for my wood supply. My buddy just dropped off all of this, 2" thick black walnut slabs. Gotta love free carving wood.

Next one on deck. A Gata club from Fiji.

All done.

Sooooooooooooooo NICE.
And endless wood supply, you are SO hooked up.

That's not too bad. GROG might even consider hanging it on GROG' wall if somebody were to buy for it for GROG' birthday coming up in September.

That thing is a pleasure to look at.
wish I could do that.

Surfin, Thanks.
Bill, They're different clubs. Thanks its nice to be carving again.
Jeff, thanks man.
Grog, thanks. Tell everyone its on sale you might get it.
Will, Thanks. Come on over I'll show you how.

Lil more progress on this one.

Sick, Andy.

If I'm seeing it right, those are layers on top... Like leaves?

That's sweet. I'm envious of your other shop tool skills... Like getting those weapon blanks so perfect before you add the icing on the cake.

Lake, The Gata clubs in the Clunie book have a Snail like business end. I have seen 2 of these in person. Its an interesting shape and design.

Cook Islands club coming soon...

Awesome stuff Andy , cant wait to see that cook islands piece finished.

HT

Would love to see an update, mate.

Thanks again for the Marq plaque!

Beautiful pieces as always, Andy. R u posting these up somewhere for sale? Its tuff to decide which piece to drop $ on as every piece seems to be abit better than the last. Keep it rollin', Boss.

Watango, Thanks. That piece cracked on me after I cut the shape? I think it will still work, have to wait and see.
Hale, I got busy again? Back at it now.
Freddie, I usually post my Tiki related items for sale here or on Facebook.

You're killing me Andy!! I will never know where you get the patience to do what you do. Looking good!!

P

lookin' forward to seeing this one come to life bro...

glad to see you're back at it...

Matt & Jeff, Thanks.

Little more done.

No way !

Thanks guys.

Still chipping away...

P

wow man... that's awesome...

just noticed the blue healer in the shot...

great dogs... smart as hell...

isn't that the same dog Mad Max has in the Road Warrior? Cool.

great work as usual Tikimecula, you're a man of great patience as well as skill!

Jeff, Thanks. Yeah that's Hemi the heeler.
Atomic Mess, Thanks.

This one is pretty much done minus a wee bit more sanding and the finish.

The Akatara cracked and didn't take the fix so it's scrap now.

New Project. 3.5" thick slab of Black Walnut.

Anyone guess what this is going to be?

'u'u

P

dude, nice shop, tools, and setup...

color me jealous...

That will be a hat for The Pope.

Have not had a lot of carving time the past month. Have a parent with cancer so it has consumed most of my free time and weekends. Doing better now, surgery in a month so hoping to get out there and carve for the next few weeks?

This one is taking shape.

the other side of the work bench. Can't have enough research with these.

All right, action.
I always work better from a reference too.
Even if it's a carve I did.

No work today since were getting 12" of snow, so I got more done on this guy.

Rough out is just about done. have some clean up to do and then a lot of sanding.

I had forgotten what a geometric nightmare these are. The carve needs to go so many directions it makes it tough to get it right.

Absolutely incredible, I will own one of these - please bring plenty to The Hukilau!!
