Cool, I could use a new light. Is it small? Can you post a pic?

Glad too see you're keeping busy.

I've been feeling really good lately, thanks. Just need to keep up my infusions every 8 weeks.

Cheers and Mahalo,
Jeff

T

Here it is Jeff.
It's not done yet.
I call this a Skip float with a full cage.
Comes with rope weave hanger.
Going to try to make five lights a month till June.
This month I've made 9 lights and some chain so
when spring comes I should be able to crank out more.
Can't sell this one yet, I would say it's mid size.
Cy just posted some new pics of the sign he's making for me check em out!!

Great update Tikiskip, the caged one is fantastic!

T

Here it is lit up Jeff.
Thanks Cy.

And a new one, Could stop here but am going to add a cage.
Did do some work on the Tapa to make it look old, and glow better.
Got over my Tapa cutting hang up.
Now that it's cut, It's Tapa light time.
As it is it looks like some lights seen in an old Kahiki photo.

More Tapa!
My wife thinks the daimond shape one does not need any more work done on it.
I think it needs more.
And on these barrels I buy those when I see them for 5 or 6 bucks think I have 10 by now.
They make great shelf stands.

H

You just keep making such beautiful lamps. This last batch is the best. I like everything you make.

HT

I have a couple of those. That's a great idea, I see them all the time.

K

Nice lights there Skip. Fijian tapa is my favorite, just seems harder to come by and it's always in smaller sizes.

T

Thanks KAHAKA.
Went to OA years ago and bought that just for this use.
Tried to get the small pattern so it would work on lights like this.
And Hiltiki thank you too!
What a nice thing to say.
I am having a ball with this Tapa.

I left out a very important part on my new shirts, that is the fact that
Sam Gambino did the new art work and logo for this T-shirt.
The back is my old logo, but the front is a new one he did for me.
Sam even did a Christmas one that I will bing out at that time.
Mr Gambino is great to work with, he works fast, and his prices are not high.
If you wanted a logo for your bar or a shirt he will work with you and do a great job!
Getting Tiki T-shirts made from these two (Cy and Sam) was very easy and you can get small runs of shirts too (12)
So get your logo art with Sam Gambino and then get that jpeg to Cy for your shirts.
http://www.samgambino.com/
http://frogislandtikis.blogspot.com/

Thank you very much guys!!
Great job!
Here's the new logos.

Amazing floats Skip! I gotta get you over to light up my bar when it's finished..

T

T

Ok you may remember the tapa I was playing with.
Well I got one light done.
This one looks like it just came out of an old Tiki joint.
Got one more of these to make so I will have a pair some day. (right now I don't have a pair, Ha!)
This tapa is great to work with!
Shoulda done this years ago.
Hope you like.
Before...

After...

Skipper- those floats all lit up look SWEET

Nice tapa too, if I did that it would all go up in flames...

Jon

HT

Skip, did you tie all those, man?

T

Yes Lucky I did tie them all.
Since that photo one float went to California.
But I tied three more.

The total floats lights I have now I think is 18.
I am going to have a lot of lights of all kinds for sale at this years Hukilau.
Would guess about 30 lights.

Got the TIKISKIP sign from Cy at Frog Island Tikis and it's
awesome!
Going to need to find a spot for this and will take photos when I do.
(I thought it was going be a bit smaller than it is, Cy went all out!)
Thanks again CY!!

PeAs and PoRrIdGe HoT, PEaS aNd PoRriDgE CoLd, buy TIKISKIP lights because they look old!

T

"Hey where do you get the stuff to build lights with?"
Here's one place, Would you go in?
It says it sells tools,
But there is way more inside.
Like the stuff below, I did buy all they had cuz ya gotta get it when you can where you can.
The stuff inside has been there forever and the prices on some stuff are from the 1950s.
But once it's gone, it's gone as they do not restock the old stuff.

¦:-·:''"":·.-:¦:-**-:¦:-·:''"":·.-:¦

T

Ok so ya got some hooks, now what?
Here is what I do with them.(the bonus is they are old hooks)
I use them to get the lights off of the ceiling when you hang em, most
lights need to drop about 1 foot or more to look good.
The brand new shiny brite gold chain is kinda like a white wall in a tiki bar, buzz killa.

Also my next tapa light is done and it weighs in at 18 ounces!
We have some lights from the Kahiki and I don't have them up because they weigh
a ton!
Have heard from lots of people that they are having trouble hanging the heavy lights
so I'm trying to keep them lite. (plus it's less ship costs)

I want to make lights that are easy to hang and ready to go, making them as trouble free as I can
for the person that buys them.
Thanx for lookin.

Looks great Skip! I finally hung the lights I got from you and they look fantastic. Here are a few bad pictures.

[ Edited by: cy 2013-04-20 21:17 ]

Cool lamps and signs. Do you have CY's ready to post? I've sent you a PM. Cheers, Wendy

T

Thanks Wendy.
Yeah Wendy need to get the sign up.
Going to need some heavy duty rope for this one!
And thanks Cy the lights look great in yer bar, kinda hard to photograph.
You did a good job.

Here's my latest.
It weighs in at 12 ounces with chain to hang light! 4 oz less than a pound.
Most tiki mugs weigh more than that.

Well done!

Dale

HT

That's nuts, Skip.

T

Thanks all... here's the next light I call "Double Bubble"
Gota different tie job on this one.

Great work as usual Skip!! :)

Skip those look like they are made by a 5 year old!

If that 5 year old was the most amazing Tiki Craftsman in this sector of our Galaxy
whom is also the hero of great "Dark Nebula Wars" & the "Robot uprising of Mechinar 4"!

sooooooo..........Very Nice!

Thanks Jeff yer shirt is being printed.
ATP my wife has called me a five year old too.. Hmmm.. And thanks.
Gwen Wow! very nice words, thank you.

Here's some new ones...
Ya don't find floats with lights in them very often,
and to find a matched pair like this is even more rare.
