Grog, hang10, Grand Poobah and Jeff... Thanks guys for the kind words!

Taking it up a notch tonight... Got a good start on this 5 foot Cannibal Trio pole while watching the Billabong Pro Tahiti on the IPad.
The waves weren't very good so I was able to focus a bit more on the chisels.

Your work is really terrific!
Is it just me, or does the clamp on your workbench in the last picture kinda look like a tiki face?

That's going to be Awesome! I'm a huge fan of your work! Can't wait to watch the progress on this one.

H

Great start, would like to see more please.

rixzantis, thank you very much! You are correct, the clamp does have a tiki look to it... Never noticed that before!

TravnerRavenweird, thanks for the kind compliment!

hiltiki, thank you! Just finished up carving today!

Whew, that was fun! Nice chunk of pine. Hope to get it colored up before the weekend is out...

P

How tall are you man???!!! :D Just curious.

Oh yeah, great carve! goes without saying at this point. I'm sure everyone on here always expects only the best work from you.

Amate, I guess I look a bit taller then I am here... Camera angle. I'm only 6'.

Boy, no pressure there. I have my screw ups once in a while, but I guess they are hard for anyone but me to see them. Thanks, I appreciate the kind compliment!

I've got my favorites and pieces I'm really comfortable with... Those are my staples, but I've been doing some new "out of the box" pieces that have been turning out alright.

I had a show in Ohio over the weekend and didn't get a chance to show the finished Cannibal...

Here he is...

28" H x 8" W. Carved from White Pine

what kind of stain did you use on this guy??? again I love the texture... do you add the texture later or just carve him that way?

Thanks Slacks!

Grand Poobah, thanks for the kind compliments!

I used a combination of three different colors of stain on this, some are wiped on and some are brushed.

The marks all come from carving.

That kicks ass! Fantastic!

Thank you TravnerRavenweird!

Carved a couple of tikis from the recently acquired Red Cedar. "Marquesan Tiki" is 11.5" H x 5" W and "The Sneer" is 10.5" H x 3.5" W. The deeper the cuts, the more the red heartwood peeks through.

I LOVE red cedar...

those are BOSS...

Aloha Jeff!

Yes, I remember you doing some work in Red Cedar in the past.

Soft enough to palm carve, and it leaves a nice waxy finish on the surface. And the surprise inside is really cool.

Thanks for the kind compliment... Much appreciated!

This page kicks some serious ars....

How do you find the pictures on Face Book?

What happened to all the photos in your thread? Do you not post here any more? :(
