Then the long weeklong wait...until the ebay cockroaches came out of the woodwork to start bidding with less than 2 minutes left. On the etched one, my final bid failed as the server spun its wheels and suddenly the bidding was over. With the second Kona mug, similar results but I had been over-bid before the really crazy last minute bidding took place. Ebay seems to like this sniping process but I'm not a fan. I think they should give the first bidder the right to make a last bid after the deadline has taken place, instead of allowing some bidder to come in during the last ten seconds to outbid everyone. I would have liked that option on the etched Kona mug as I was in the thick of bidding and had submitted a winning bid (before the deadline)if it had gone through. On the second, some person out of nowhere outbid everyone and I felt bad for the guy who kept bidding higher and higher to lose it at the last second. It makes me wonder who are these jokers who had all week to bid and waited to the last minute. Have any of them even been to the Kona Club? The Kona Club looks great but I prefer FI. My compliments to Crazy Al for his artistic mug. I'll have to work on getting a Kona mug in the future. Oh well. Thanks for letting me vent.

Thanks for letting me vent. ..yeah, the problem with mugs and such like these is that you're never gonna get them cheap or get a deal on them....they are too much in demand and crazy al cuts no one any slack (I tried!). best you can do is just decide the max you would pay for it, enter that only once as your bid and let the drink coasters fall where they may....if you get outbid, what do you care?? you weren't going to pay that much in the first place..if so, then that should have been your maximum bid...alot of times i place a high bid on certain items and the selling price never comes near it, cause if i really want it, i'm willing to shell out....thus i end up with the item and i feel like i got it at a bargain to boot, cause i won it at less than i was willing to pay my intial maximum bid for.! ..but alot of times i do get outbid and that's okay....if goes beyond my maximum bid that's the breaks, someone else wanted it more than i did and was willing to pay an outrageous amount for it...there's always next time. anyway, there's my 2 cents...

I was an ebay novice that got sniped big time but I agree IF I ever bid again, I'll take your's and my wife's advice and set my max at what I am willing to spend and leave it to fate whether I get the item or not. Besides, I would rather be drinking and enjoying my time instead of staring at the ebay timer count down while the bidding goes crazy. Thank you for your 2 cents. I am often the first bidder on the items I want but hardly ever win, I bid what I'll pay and that's it. It has become more rewarding to find out a day after an auction has closed that I won for what I'd pay or less (like getting a Munktiki for opening bid price) than scheduling time on the PC to get that last minute bid in and end up disappointed. I've been out bid by as little buck or two on these CAL mugs and I'm okay with that, he offers the regular editions at a very reasonable price, so if I ever end up with a special edition it will be just that, a special bonus.

These will début at the 'Surf Beat' show here in S.Cal Following the fantastic lead of Gecko's 'Pele Line' of creations, I had this idea. You might want to wear gloves handling these Hot Motha-s, as the texture is very similar to real Lava! Ouch!
