Hi Bill -

Great looking work, man you livin' da life!!!! Can you put one of those raw coconut palm logs in an envelope, slap a stamp on it and send it to San Diego?

Hey - is the Cocoa Palms Resort really going to be refurbished? Any news from over there? It would be a great place to sell your Tikis, brah.

Cam O.

Always so amazing. Great work Bill. We miss you on da mainland.

Hey Bill! Stop carving and look at TC!

I had a commission for a tiki that wasn't a Marq, so I thought I would share.
This is Monkeypod wood that I got from a large branch trimmed off
a tree growing behind the church in the nearest town to me.
It's 37" tall, and going to The Golden Tiki, a new place in Vegas.

I finally learned that you have to do a lot of sanding if you want the grain to shine.

WC

Nice Tang.
GROG gonna like.

R

Nice wood, cool design- a great piece of art in total!
i like!

Awesome
Can't wait to see him in person on the 17th when they open

C

WOW! Not much more you can say about that one. Just gorgeous!

H

A winner, love it.

Thank you all for the kind comments! The tiki has arrived in Vegas and will assume its position on the waterfall soon. If I get any photos of that, I will share. :)

B

WOW, This one is Amazing and the wood just simply INCREDIBLE!

I spent the past few months carving these. Two nine foot tall Marquesans out of two large branches of a Monkeypod tree.
If you're ever on Kauai, definitely go visit Havaiki in Hanalei, a great shop.
Here's me with Dylan, the shop owner, after we installed the tikis.

Those are very nice Bill, Hawaii seems to be agreeing with you!

H

You are such a great carver, nice job.

I have to show off one of Bill's latest creations: my gorgeous new Tiki carved from a palm salvaged from the Coco Palms resort on Kauai.

Thanks again, Bill - Best birthday ever!

Note the detail reflecting the old lobby arch window:

That's a beaut bama, I miss 4wd posts here on TC.

4

Haha, thanks Ted, for digging up my thread and posting! Thanks Cy for missing me! I’ll have to go through some pics and post some of what I’ve done since my last post three years ago.

Ha, Bill - I'm Amy and this Tiki is all Mine!
But thanks for taking money from Ted so I could have it!

Do post more pix, love to see all your stuff!

4

Haha, oops, Amy!

A few pics from the past few years:

I did these two sign holders for Havaiki in Hanalei, Kauai, which dates back to my last post in this thread 3 years ago.

I did several carvings for Max’s South Seas Hideaway, this is two of them.

Put out an LP of my music. :P :P :P

A look into my carving shack.

Inside the shack, finishing a piece.

Everything shown is out of Monkeypod, it’s what I mostly carve. I also use Koa, coconut, Lychee, and Milo.

Welcome back Bill!!!

M

You carve some amazing tikis.

A koa wood tiki that I bought from you is starting to split apart. is there anything I can do to stop it.?

WC

I use to think your stuff was good.
Now it's even better.
Good stuff.

H

Love your work.

Wood splits, and if it goes to a drier climate, the odds of splitting go up.
That said, without seeing it, I would say try getting some wood glue into the split, that can keep it from progressing.
If you want, message me a pic of it and maybe I can give better advice.
