last night-- looking into Belmont Stakes drinks, had half portions of the White Carnation; the Belmont Breeze; and the new Belmont Jewel. they really need to do a better job of coming up with a signature drink.

today, my cerveca perfecta-- Old Elephant Foot IPA, followed up with a CCB Jai Alai IPA...

Having the 1862 original version of an Orgeat Punch:

juice of one lemon
1 oz orgeat (Small Hand Foods)
2 oz VSOP Brandy

shaken, up . . . truly spectacular!

1.5 oz Appleton Estate
.5 oz Navan
2 shakes Bitterman's Bitters
1 oz BG Reynolds Passionfruit Syrup
1 oz lime juice
crushed ice
mint

Everything in my bar! :)

My afternoon sipper . . .

juice of 1 lemon (smallish)
juice of 1/2 lime
1 oz pineapple juice
1 oz raspberry gomme syrup
.5 oz TV Navy Grog concentrate
.5 oz simple syrup
1 oz El Dorado 3yr Silver
1 oz El Dorado 5yr Amber
1 oz LH151
couple shakes of Angostura

shaken with crushed ice (Lewis Bag), served in a snifter with more ice, more Angostura, mint and an air kiss (just because) . . . magnifique!

One of my favorite house cocktails, the Podgey and Jasper:

1 oz. Coruba
1 oz. Cruzan light
1 oz 50/50 honey mix
1 oz Jasper's Mix
2 dashes St. Elizabeth Pimento Dram

Shake with ice cubes, pour unstrained into double rocks glass.

That sounds good! I'm working on my local liquor store to carry Coruba, he tells me next week, we'll see!

kicking back for father's day, having my fave cocktail, Navy Grog-- 2 oz El Dorado Eight y.o., 1 oz M'ville jamaican dark; 3/4 oz lime, grapefruit, rich honey mix; 1/4 oz st. elizabeth dram; 1 oz soda water.

already had a cold beer earlier dad-style after mowing the lawn (Jai Alai IPA).

still to come-- a shot of Johnny Walker Blue in toast to my sons; a shot of bourbon for my departed Pops...

Just finished a Navy Grog myself - the Luau version from Sippin Safari. Been revisiting several different Grog recipes this week.

Now enjoying my nightcap, a Caribbean Punch -- the early Donn Beach cocktail from Sippin' Safari with Sarsaparilla soda in it. It was the second drink I tried from Sippin' Safari when it first came out, and it's still a favorite that I like revisiting now and again.

Bajan rum punch leftover from grandsons birthday party yesterday, a Negra Modelo Especial, couple glasses of Cab to wash down my father's day rib eye, another Negra Modelo and getting out the champagne cuz it's so good With Tiramisu
Cheers

Tukupi's Cup, John Tremain and Matt Anderson's winning Deadhead Rum Cocktail that I did not get a chance to taste during Hukilau. Very nice cocktail — probably the first cocktail I have encountered that uses both passionfruit syrup and maple syrup. Good use of one of the Pygmy mini-bottles they were handing out at the Deadhead booth.

Straight pulls from a bottle of Tanduay Centennial Rhum. I thought the rum was 17 years old when I bought it because it was made for the 1998 centennial of Philippine independence but checking on Tanduay's website I found the rum was distilled in 1976 and bottled in 1996 for the 1998 centennial. Tastes amazing.

Mai-Tai

Again

Just a simple old stand by. Chilled to perfection of course.

Diplomatico, Reserva Exclusiva

Atomic Grog Mutiny tribute. Yumm!

here's my tribute to the Mutiny:

Trader Sam's Zombie (then a Mai Tai, a coupla Navy Grogs...)

Three-Dots-And-A-Dash two ways . . .

First-up, Plantation 5 yr & El Dorado 5 yr - very mild and will be quite drinkable for my guests tomorrow night.

Second-up, DePaz & LH151 - now that's what I'm talking about!

What's even better is I bought some Luxardo Maraschino cherries today . . . big splurge . . . while I don't seem to have a problem spending $30+ for a bottle of booze, $20 for a small jar of cherries just seems extravagant :)

Cheers!

OK lets load the Van & head to Jon's in Vegas!!!!

had 1/2 of a turbo-zombie (havent been to church yet) then switched to Jai Alai IPA.

out of falernum, donn's mix, so just threw together 4 oz demerara rum; 3/4 lime, grapefruit; 1/4 oz curacao; 2 oz water; 3 tsp sugar, 3 tsp brown sugar; 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ginger, clove; 2 d pernod; d Angostura; 1/4 oz grenadine. Turbo-zombie!

If I'm in the mood for a Hawaiian-style Mai Tai, laziness will usually lead me to the Damon's version from Taboo Table. But if I have the energy to take on three additional ingredients, this is a good one.

Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon. I've not long in this country so I'm going through the expensive stuff as quickly as possible. Early this week I finished a 37 year old rhum. The things I have to do...
