Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!

Sometimes you drink the bar, sometimes the bar drinks you.

Thanks to Rumfest I aquired some Creme de Violette, so it's Aviations for me!

Yellow boxer.

Mai Tai. I make a self-styled "updated" version using half light rum (10 cane) and half dark rum (whatever is on hand...tonight, Pusser's -- adds a smoky note...first time trying this particular combo -- it's great with Appleton 12).

T

I'll be fixing up a batch of the old Voodoo Priestess tonite. Made my first one on Halloween and am now hooked.

S

Love the Voodoo Priestess! Need to whip up some more spice syrup. Finally hunted down passion fruit syrup locally, so I'm mixing up some Reverb Crash this evening!!!!! Also picked up some Goslings, so might have a Dark 'n Stormy as well.

T

After this week.....starting off with a few Meihanas.

The Grinch:

2 oz AppleJack whiskey
1/2 oz velvet falernum
1/2 oz simple syrup
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
2 dash Regans orange bitters
3 dash fees whiskey bitters

shake with ice and strain into a rocks glass with ice.

quite a tasty winter drink, has been requested 3 nights in a row by the wife.

The Best Reverb Crash ever....
Just use 2oz of dark rum, instead of 1 dark and 1 gold.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm......................delicious

8 oz. of hot organic soy milk with 1 1/2 ounces of dark rum. Nice little bedtime drink.

Had just enough lime juice left for a 151 Swizzle. I figured it was a sign.

Made with Lemon Hart 151 and a couple drops of Obsello absinthe.

A martini... not terribly tiki, but there it is. I did want to recommend some rum i just bought though. I went to Saint Lucia for my honeymoon and bought a few bottles of rum. The mid tier is called Chairman's reserve, and the top shelf is called Admiral Rodney's. I liked them both and bought two bottles of AR.

I'm enjoying a Steve Crane's Luau Scorpion with my drinkin' buddy, Tongaroa Ted.

My Don Mai Tai at third the Beachcomber.

I've been refining the DG Special today. IE- Fiddling with the ingredients until it tastes better.

Mmmmmm... Mai Tai (s) with Appleton Estates 12 year and Myers. And the cold has destroyed the mint patch... so not the best presentation, but quite tastey!

H

Martin Cate's own The Dead Reckoning

1oz fresh lemon juice
1oz pineapple juice
1/2 oz Maple syrup
1/2 oz Towny Port (I used any port around!)
1/2 oz Navan Vanilla Liquor ( I used any vanilla liquor I could find)
2oz Flor de Cana 12 year rum ( I use Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 year old)
Dash angostura bitter
1 oz soda

Shake with ice, pour over ice garnish with Mint, lemon twist and pineapple leaf (not)!
very very good.

Decided to give my new coconut mug a spin and mixed up a Lei Lani Volcano from the Grog Log. Too sweet for my tastes, so I tweaked it a bit for the 2nd round, and came up with something that had a bit more bite:

1 oz. Lime Juice (fresh-squeezed, of course)
2 oz. Guava Nectar
1 1/2 oz. Unsweetened Pineapple Juice
1/4 oz. Homemade Grenadine
1/4 oz. Demerara Cane Sugar Syrup
2 oz. 10 Cane Rum
1 oz. Presidente Mexican Brandy
1/2 oz. Kalani Coconut Liqueur
1/2 oz. Lemon Hart Demerara 151

Shake all ingredients with crushed ice and pour into ceramic coconut mug. Float 151 on top.

A Mai Tai, but I'm out of simple syrup, so I added a little extra orgeat and a strong dash of Disaronno, oh and for rum, this time I used Appleton's V/X and Cruzan Black Strap.

... and I've got Martin Denny's Primitiva on the turntable.

2oz Cruzan Rum Cream
1 oz St. Elizabeth Allspice
served on the rocks
w/ a coupla dashes of the Fee Bros Aztec Chocolate bitters

Started off with a Rum Barrel, then did a comparison of the classic Navy Grog with the Samoan Grog. My favorite kind of research. Conclusion: more research needed.

A

Out of rum (EGADS!) and still a little thirsty. A Forbidden Island signature mug filled with
mango/passion fruit juice and soda water has really done us right... for now.

Nursing Angostura 1824.

P

Hot chocolate made with organic cocoa and a slug of Cruzan Black Strap.

Baby, it's cold outside, and nothing goes better with subzero temps here in the Upper Midwest than a steaming hot Tom and Jerry, so I thought it might be fun to try and tikify this classic Winter tipple. I call the result the "Tabonga and Jerry" after the killer Polynesian tree monster in the not-so-classic cult film, "From Hell It Came."

1/2 cup of Tom and Jerry batter (buy it pre-made at the store or google the recipe and make it yourself)
1 oz. Cruzan Blackstrap Rum
1 oz. Presidente Mexican Brandy
1/2 oz. Fresh-squeezed Lime Juice
1/2 oz. Fee Bros. Falernum

Add all ingredients to a tiki mug with a handle, then add boiling-hot water to fill. Dust with ground nutmeg and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Doctor Funk, then a Donga Punch with freshly made cinnamon syrup.

Just made some Cinnamon Syrup so I figured I'd try a "Jet Pilot" from Sippin Safari.

WOW!!! a couple sips in and man this thing is PO'TENT!!!!

edit:
I have to admit to being a sally and backing off the 151 Lemon Hart to the 80 for my second one...

Don't you dare mix that!!!

NoNaMe, no way did I mix that fine rum. It was the Appleton Estates 12 year and Myer's in the Mai Tai's last night.

Hey, finally get to toss the St. Elizbeth Allspice Dram bottle into the recycle heap.
