Having the greatest Mai Tai of my life at The Inferno Room in Indianapolis. Made with 2 ounces of Worthy Park 12 Year.

Started the journey to perfect my Painkiller recipe!
Was pretty good, but not perfect!
Started with the standard recipe with one change. Instead of 2.5 ounces of Pusser’s, I did 2 ounces Pusser’s and half ounce of Pompero Anniversario. I think it worked well, but something was a bit off with the OJ and coconut I think.
More work is needed..

Lots of snow with temps just above zero, so this calls for hot buttered rum

From TikiMon via exotictikiisland.com
Kapu Mango
1 oz Cruzan Silver Rum
1 oz Coruba Black Rum
1/2 oz Appleton Estate Signature Gold Rum
1/2 oz Peach Liqueur
2 oz Mango Nectar
1 oz Lime
1 oz Honey Syrup
1/4 oz Orgeat
Garnish with mint sprig and maraschino cherry

Pretty good, it's not as sweet as I thought it might be.

Getting into the spirit of the long Halloween weekend with a highly recommended drink culled from "Tiki Surf Witches Want Blood," featured in the latest issue of Exotica Moderne magazine ...

Instead of Old New Orleans, I used an aged agricole rhum (Rhum JM XO), with great results. You could even turn this into a Día de Muertos cocktail with an añejo tequila or mezcal. A grassy spirit plays well with the sour and sweet elements.

The "tiki-cocktail-recipe-comic-book" was released in 2016, based on a design concept by Steven Rhodes, written by Will Penny, and illustrated by Nik Poliwko. The mixology consultant was Joey Schmidt.

I find Rum Fire to have a strong cigar/tobacco characteristic in certain applications--and this is one.

My sister came over to watch soccer on my TV, and I made her my own Tiki Pat's Grog:

She just told me I could make her another drink, and she'd do some dishes....

Trinidadi Issues by Chad Austin, as published in Minimalist Tiki by Matt Pietrek ....

Does it live up to the hype? You bet. Just make sure you're not down to your last 1.5 ounces of Angostura!

I highly recommend the book, now in its second printing ... https://minimalisttiki.com

Tangaroa Cooler
2 oz Hendricks Gin
1 oz Grapefruit Juice
1/2 Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Falernum
1/2 oz Orgeat
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Garnish with a lemon wedge and cherry

Jon, that flaming skull looks nice in your drink!

So the Tangaroa Cooler I posted is basically just a spiced up version of a Gin Sour?

The recipe you listed might or might not have been altered from the original creation by Sam's bartenders in 2014. My version, confirmed, is as you have it only with 1/4 agave in it as well. The story behind it is that a former bartender at Sam's, Mike, was tinkering with a tropical version of a Greyhound (https://www.liquor.com/recipes/greyhound/) but it wasn't quite there. Kelly I believe offered some further tinkering and we have the drink that we have now. I logged this at the link below.

Tropic Thunder, from page 180 of Minimalist Tiki. Good stuff.

Thanks for the Tangaroa Cooler info kklocka! (It's possible I forgot to write down the Agave)

Gypsy Beachcomber
1 1/2 oz Dark Rum (Goslings)
1 1/2 oz Spiced Rum (Kraken)
1/2 oz Chambord
3/4 oz Falernum
2 1/2 oz Pineapple Juice
1/2 oz Coconut Cream
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

I wasn't sure that the pineapple juice would have enough acid to balance this drink and I thought it turned out a bit sweet. It was better after adding 1/2 oz Lime Juice.

Hamilton West Indies 1670. Because it's delicious. And I'm lazy!
Hoping to get back into making some real cocktails in the new home bar soon. You guys are making me feel pathetic. And thirsty!

Hang10, we had really good Smith & Cross 'Painkillers' at Mamahune's recently (and some bad ones.) Will post some trip details soon.

My first taste of Sippin' Santa on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale ...

Okole maluna and mele kalikimaka to Beachbum Berry, Cocktail Kingdom and Flight 19!

I was most impressed with Christmas Eve of Destruction (Plantation O.F.T.D., lime juice, nutmeg syrup, Bénédictine, Angostura bitters) ...

Featuring a healthy 2 ounces of O.F.T.D., this is nevertheless perfectly balanced and reminiscent of a classic Tiki drink.

Check out The Atomic Grog's preview of both Sippin' Santa and Miracle holiday pop-ups, including the Sippin' Santa menu and details on the locations ...

Thanks for the tip on Christmas Eve of Destruction, Hayward; I'll definitely try it when I get to Sippin' Santa.

Right now, I'm enjoying a Mai Tai with Merchant's Reserve.

Thanks for the Jamaican Bobsled recipe, Mike. I think upping the rum to 2 oz is a good choice.

I will have to edit later to add a pic, but, the Festivus Flip from Sippin Santa....I thought was delicious!! If anyone is a fan of traditional egg nog, it tastes just like it, but, is obviously not a traditional Nog !!

Bamm- who can mess up a painkiller?!? Lol
