Nic tiki. Nice website. GROG see you come from the Crazy Al school of carving. Shorts and no shirt.

the piece is certainly beautiful but the finish makes it really stand out

P

shaved his nose down a bit & cleaned up his eyemask & face in general this evening...

P

Yeah...your really getting serious over there!!! Excellent stuff.

Those are seriously COOL! :)

Those have turned out Fantastic! Excellent work!

D

Very very cool...

Hot damn... that's a lot of detail packed into those three.

That Lono head dress is off the hook. Nice work Jeff... Raised the bar real high on that one. Looks fragile.

That is some detail.. they are really beautiful! How much time does one take to do? Can you carve for long periods of time? I tend to to get tired and rush, make mistakes etc. I have to step away from it and come back

P

thanks guys... I'm almost done with the guy in the middle... very busy...

so yeah, I finally broke down and bought one of these after my last electric melted inside of a week...

P

and poobah, to answer your questions,...

I don't know really... I never just "work" for more than an hour or 2 without coming inside, havin' a rum, checkin' facebook, screwin' around, etc. I lose track of time... I'm just kinda constantly, day and night going & pecking at it for 20 or 30 minutes or maybe an hour at a time. it's kinda just part of my life... it's been 2 and half years now since I've had a "real job"... lol...

Mine was worth the bucks.
Close to 10 years & works like new.
I have the smaller tooth chain & carve bar.
I don't beat on it.

P

ok, the end of the bar was a little pinched, but I pried it apart a little, so now it's assembled & ready to go...

I'm gonna make some stuff tomorrow....

How much are those things? I might wanna get one.

P

360 bones with the carving bar...

was busy today & haven't used it yet, but my first impression is that it's heavy as hell for an electric...

P

oh my god...

I LOVE this f'n thing....

I don't always use a chainsaw.
but, when I do,
I use a Makita.

BOOM!!! What was that sound?? Your electric bill landing in your mailbox!

P

yeah, my electric bill is never small... lol...

P

I'm really enjoying my new makita...

today is a "fun" day. Masks are fun because they're kinda "instant gratification" because they come together so quickly.

P

so yeah, I wasn't feeling well, but the festival of rum was fun, and I got a little work done while I was there...

and I bled a little... lol...

P

live carvin' at the pub,,,

P

well, ok. things are getting busy.

this has been a really good year.

today a guy commissioned some twin 8 foot double-decker Marquesians in cypress for his pool area.

I am very stoked about this job, and I'm planning on making this dude very happy...

2013 has really been a good year for me so far. :)

T

2013 has really been a good year for me so far. :)

I'll say! Way to go Jeff!!!

P

thanks T...

here's some big cypress logs I picked up from the sawmill yesterday....

Zen-like.

P

working on these trophies for a breast cancer fishing tournament...

WC

Sweet.
Your fish are underrated.

H

Your fish would make the ultimate "how to carve deep" project, nice job.

Amen brother!!!
Looks like a spec and a snook.
Like how you did the speckles!

P

thanks guys...

wow... there's been a lot of response to these fish...

looks like there will probably be more of 'em... I've already got people sending deposits for their own and these aren't even sanded & finished...

I'm up early today. Lots to do... 2 live carves this weekend....

and a big party.

Cool look'n fishy's bro!

P

so today, I was informed while I was at the Magnusson, that it was essentially the once famous "OUTRIGGER"...

in fact, one of the old outriggers has miraculously remained in one of the outdoor pavilions...

the fishing dudes were over the moon about the trophies... especially this guy... he was super stoked, and really said some nice things...

so anyway, they have a dead palm by the pool & I'm hoping to bring TIKIS back to ANOTHER old school "flori-nesian" spots.... :)

P

and here's a pic from last night's event in the art district on Central Ave, St Pete....

P

"versatility"

gettin' it done... wherever, and however. my house is being tented for termites so I'm homeless for a few days... but the show must go on...

Truck tikis
Dude, you are an animal!

Jon

P

I may not be the best guy in the game, but I'm damned sure one of the most determined...

I'm like the energizer bunny of tiki.... I just keep goin' & goin'... lol...

P

here's another one I'm workin' on... the "maori moai" in cedar...

and just when I was patting myself on the back and saying "hey, this is one of my best moai's EVER!!!" I hit a rotted spot and his nose fell off...

that's what I get for being smug & self-congratulatory.... lol....

it's clamps and epoxy for this guy....

So check out that hair ball.
Kickin it up a notch, Hu?
You like your new tool, too.

P

yes sir, that I am...

so this dude is almost done...
