Thanks for looking

not sure how I'll finish this guy ??????

M

Like your ish tiki, cool how big you have gone with the eyes, can't wait to see how you finish them and the nose piece!

S

S

trying some face tattoos on this guy

Looking Good Scott.

Tiki profile looks like Elvis'. Nicely done!

S

thanks Derek and Coconutzo.......gonna burn and stain the tattooed Elvis TiKi this weekend.

P

hey that modern dude looks kinds familiar!

lol...

both pieces lookin' good bro...

S

thanks Jeff! it should look familiar.....inspired by the Modern TiKis that you've been carving lately.
Since I was just experimenting with this style, I carved it from a Queen Palm. I'm hoping that it doesn't split open......seems like a pretty solid log.
We'll see.

Modern TiKi Girl

Love the last one!

FANTASTIC! I love how the headdress reappears as what seems to be... IMO, a beard. Has sort of a Lincoln touch to it.

S

thanks cy, amate an coconutzo.......Elvis has left the building ( I sold him this weekend ) and I never thought about the last guy having a beard ( I was thinking Lei). Could be a beard, what with the new Abraham Lincoln movie and all.

S

just a quick-carve queen palm wall hanger
I've got some queen palm logs that I'd like to use for something ....what do you think?

M

Nice mask!

Queen palms tend to be more grassy than woody. Approach with much reservation!

Keep em coming!

McTiki

I might have gotten carried away on this one....maybe a little too deep???

If it holds together, I'll post some more pix when it's finished

Now that's what I call
loosing the shape of the log.
Nice job.

S

Burnt and stained

S

had a great time at the International TiKi Market Place on Saturday!

this one's not really a TiKi.....more of a cartoonish carving of a TiKi lover

didn't like the way this guy was turning out, so I just kept taking more away. a little weird but maybe salvageable

Hey Scott, Am planning on going to the "San Diego Vintage Flea Market" tomorrow - Sunday, March 10 (which btw, is actually in El Cajon). Was checking out the event on their Facebook page and noticed that you had a write-up about being there along with Tikis. Look forward to meeting you there and checking out all the tikis!

not for everyone

S

did some more work on this guy today

he's sort of two faced

I didn't notice that the eyes don't line up, I'll try to fix that

trying something different...some simple carving on a queen palm frond

S

got this guy burnt and stained

S

a 20" tall commission TiKi for "Coach Chad"

he's supposed to be holding a volleyball

I just thought he was a chub chub! LOL Nice job though!

S

Thanks BigT.....after I stained him, I thought that he just looked like a fat TiKi too. Made me want to carve a Buddha style one. Future project.

S

a little more done on this guy

Are you kidding? That looks great! Perfect symmetry is not necessary nor is it even human.

S

Thanks Hakalugi.....I don't think that I have to worry about being too symmetrical. Most of my TiKis end up a little lop-sided.

S

Done carving this guy

ready for stain
