Mahalo Ben, I am having a good time.......and meeting some great people.

Skoo, where'd you go?

Aloha Bill.......no time for carving lately
(that whole stupid trying to make a living thing that takes up so much time)
I have been keeping an eye on all of the really great work that is being posted on TC though.
I see that you are carving in La Jolla on Memorial day......sounds like fun.
Hopefully I'll be back soon. A friend of mine just gave me some 2 foot logs that will be fun to carve.
Thanks for checking in on me.

S

just a few progress pix

this little guy is 22" tall .......4WDTiki had a post showing how he starts with some chainsaw cuts first
this is my attempt ......thanks for the demo Bill
I'll post another photo when this guy is finished

S

Good to meet you in person, let me know when you'll be around.

Very KU'L

S

a little more work done on this little guy

thanx for checking in

TT

Hey skoot nice stuff! Dig the headdress you gave him.Hang loose.

S

Ya! I like this little fella. Looks like a little bad ass.

S

well, I guess I'll call this little" bad ass tiki" finished, and move on to another.
thanks for checking in on me

S

I carved these on a visit to my Bro-in-laws' Beach house last year

this year while visiting I stained & polyed them
now ,they're ready for another year at the beach

S

Yes looking good. You gots to have beach house tiki's

S

a new one .......still needs to be finished

S

I got to carve this little guy for luxuriamusic.com for tiki oasis

Kevin Kidney did some really cool art-work for luxuriamusic with a little blue guy listening to red headphones with a big smile on his face.......that was the inspiration.......I hope that it's ok for a tiki to be blue with headphones

S

S

a couple of TiKis that I have been working on

S

trying something new
thanks for visiting

S

just for fun

S

HEY, YOU KIDS! GIT OFF MY LAWN!

If you're in Ramona CA and you want sushi, seafood or plate-lunch check out DA TUNA SHACK on Main St.
They have a few TiKis that I carved tucked into the corners.

S

I needed another TiKi for a project and I had this guy in my yard.

he was carved from a poor quality log, but I like his look.

the top was all split and I stained him too dark, so I sanded him down and glued a piece of plywood to the top to cover the cracks.

probably not a very tiki way to go, but I think he looks OK

S

My wife gave me a couple of draw knives and some chisels for Christmas.

I never used a draw knife before.

it worked pretty well for skinning this log.

THANKS HONEY!

S

experimenting with some stain

S

I haven't been carvin' as much as I would like to but here's a recent one.

I picked up a few old chisels on e-bay and one of them is a perfect "nostril chisel" (at least in my opinion)

Thanks for looking

S

SUSHI- TIKI STYLE

just trying something new

That tuna guy is bad ass! Good work!

thanks, TikiGwogGwog.......I'm glad that you like him......I might do some more fishy TiKis.

P

dude, that is awesome.

I'm a big fisherman myself, so I may have to create my own version of the "fish tiki".

I'm inspired!

I really like the last two but love the attitude on this guy. Looks like a picture of me at work!

S

thanks for the compliments.........I never know how one of my TiKis will turn out untill they are done.
glad that you like them too.

T

LIke it A LOT , Its got to be the LIPS

S

Thanks, teaKEY.

an angle grinder with a flap disc works pretty well for carving LIPS

S

just a small, red TiKi playing the ukulele

I probably should do some more sanding on this little guy

he's a little rough

S

started a new somber looking TiKi today.

I tried to do as much chain-sawing as possible before I touched a chisel.

I think that the chainsaw is done....move on to chisels and grinder this week-end I hope.

thanks for looking

S

after some chisel work and grinder yesterday

not quite done yet

P

I dig!

S

I guess that these two somber looking guys are done
still some rough edges, but done enough.

Well done! Some strong bold looks on these guys.

T

Ditto here. I like the big bold style you have on these. Great job.

S

my first attempt at "in the ground" carving

the customer told me the style that they liked so I carved one.
they liked it so .....one down and five more waiting.

M

That's awesome SkooTiki! That's quite a commission too!

Nice work.

Mahalo!

Those two in the ground look great skootiki!

T

Great job. Those are really attractive. Looks like the lost a bunch of trees.

S

they chose to cut them down....said that they were too messy around the pool. they said that they were around 30 feet tall.
they cut them down to around 7 feet. there's a total of 6 and they want them all carved into TiKis.

TT

Nice work Skootiki, very clean, enjoyed talking with you about these at Caliente, thanks for stopping by!

Shouldn't have to worry about anyone stealing them! Look great.
