hang10tiki you and SewTiki brought us a gift to our hotel in Las Vegas. It was the first time we met. Recently the little Frankie's let loose and fell to the bottom of the box. When I opened the box up I decided to take it apart and put the swizzles in Dan's jungle room and to use the box for myself.

I wanted to have one of each of my necklaces displayed in our home. I glued them to the backing and put the box back together. Thank you for making this possible. We enjoyed the Frankies treasures for many years. Now I get to enjoy more of my work. DSCN7130DSCN7131DSCN7132DSCN7136DSCN7137

I did a post before this one but this one started a new page. So, something is new at the bottom of 221 and the top of 222.

One of our favorite photos was taken by the Sacramento Bee during an interview. I decided to make a puzzle of it for Dan for Christmas. We put it together and here it is. Dan and I in jungle room (2)Dan and I in jungle room (6)Dan and I in jungle room (9)Dan and I in jungle room (11)

I also had a puzzle made of the tiki hut in the tiki jungle room in it's hey day. We put it together.

Dan's tiki hut with collection (1)Dan's tiki hut with collection (6)Dan's tiki hut with collection (8)Dan's tiki hut with collection (9)Dan's tiki hut with collection (13)

I decided we should keep these two puzzles together so I bought this glue. It works wonderfully well. 0000 new puzzles 100 piece (2.20)

I decided that transferring the puzzles to a cardboard backing would make them easier to hang in the garage. Only I tried to slide it fast, and this happened! Dan's tiki hut with collection (10)

We put it back together, glued them both and they now hang in our garage. Dan and I in jungle room (17)

Love the puzzles Wendy! <3 Reminds me of my visit to your house

MadDogMike you and Teresa are always welcome here.

Great puzzle. We do them too, but that’s a great one

Glad the Frankie’s swizzle stick frame got a second job

Hugs

Jon

Always fun to see you men post on my thread.

Next up repairing Dan's war club. He dropped it and the brittle twine broke. My first helpful hint is to always keep a pair of pliers with your glue. Second helpful hint is to ask your husband if he likes the rope before you add it!!! The twine was an improvement. P1070781P1070782P1070783P1070785P1070821

Good fix

Most of my life is held together with E6000.

Good stuff.

hang10tiki you almost bought this war club. You would have saved me the repair!!! Thank you.

Will carve just the best for so many projects!

Lol

We are painting the inside or our home. Room by room we are making the puttied holes from hanging tikis disappear. Here's an update as to our progress.

I painted the nook. The nail holes needed another layer. I opened a new can of paint and went to work. It was the wrong color. I ended up painting the room a third time. NO nail holes with putty show up now! nook 3 (1)nook 2 (2)nook 8

All done. I can't figure out the white area on the wall and window. It's not there except in this photo. nook 1012

Looks like a lot of hard work!

MadDogMIke I will forever check my paint color before covering a whole room while thinking it will lighten up when it dries. Lesson learned.

So you paint on stuff other than black velvet?

Yes! Would you like a flower on your cheek next time we meet?

When we were at Kelly Moore's we met Gregory Calhoun a real paint contractor. He showed me this bucket and grate. Said my project would go faster if I used one. I bought it and he was so right. dining room downstairs bedroom (2)

We learned a lesson. If you buy 5 gallons they come in a huge bucket. So we bought five cans and split it up at home. dining room downstairs bedroom (1) I used a spatula to get every drip.

Now it was time to strip and paint the dining room. It's being changed to Asian to match the living room. dining room downstairs bedroom (3)dining room downstairs bedroom (4) Dan scrubs the baseboards before I paint.

Next we stripped the walls of tikis and prepped the downstairs bedroom for painting. Every spot on each wall shows where a tiki items once hung. We didn't believe in empty wall space. dining room downstairs bedroom (6)dining room downstairs bedroom (7)dining room downstairs bedroom (8)dining room downstairs bedroom (10)

For over 20 years tikis were hung and re-hung on our walls. Holes were puttied. Here an example on one wall before and after painting. Example before and after (1) One wall is done and Dan's coming in to check on my progress, he paints the baseboards. Example before and after (2)

End results good

hang10tiki you are so right!

Next up my office/art room. Lots of nail holes here. I used to have all these heads I made for submission for an airport project. I wanted to call it Passengers, Past, Present and Future and have them put among a backdrop of cloth from around the world. I was told they only selected projects where they had input. Not almost completed projects. Oops! I have since given these all away to friends and family. 42 in all. Some are missing in these photos. STUDIO WALL (2)STUDIO WALL (3)STUDIO WALL (4)

WOW!!! So much work! I get tired just scrolling through the pics! LOL It looks beautiful!

MadDogMike, there's so much more to share. We are painting again tomorrow. Thanks for noticing.

Our house painting continues. Sorry, this isn't tiki, but TC is also my cloud. Our master bedroom is Egyptian. This room we had completely done, even the ceiling. First we had to remove and store the treasures from King Tut's tomb. Then the painters did the rest.

Master Bedroom purge (1)Master Bedroom purge (2)Master Bedroom purge (3)Master Bedroom purge (9)Master Bedroom purge (14)Master Bedroom purge (15)Master Bedroom purge (23)Master Bedroom purge (24)

The last painting project was to do 3 stalls of the garage. We had just gotten all our art hung and now we had to take it down. To prepare for painting we swept, scraped off clay, vacuumed and washed where needed and puttied a hundred nail holes. When we broke for lunch, we had take-out that gave us a wonderful message.

3 stalls of the garage painting (1)3 stalls of the garage painting (2)3 stalls of the garage painting (3)3 stalls of the garage painting (6)3 stalls of the garage painting (9)3 stalls of the garage painting (10)3 stalls of the garage painting (13)3 stalls of the garage painting (15)3 stalls of the garage painting (16)

All prepped and ready for paint. However, I made one HUGE mistake. We are using up paint that was either too light or two dark in the house. I should have mixed it all together before painting. Instead, I just mixed a pint of too dark with a gallon of too light but then I didn't have enough of one color to keep that mix going. Oh well. I'll just have to figure something out.

Aloha

The jungle room still has a lot of TIKI

Yaaaaaaa

Good job on the painting

Looks great

Like all the inspiration books on your shelves!!!

We continued to work on the Garage painting. I missed a step and fell from the ladder. This was a week ago and I'm better each day. Sitting down has been the hardest part so we continue to work on the house.

My mom had a dental lab where she made gold crowns and retainers. She is sitting in front of one of the desks we painted. They have been antique white, pale orange, brown and now beige. Still in use since 1959 when they were bought unfinished at Nature Wood when it was on Stockton Blvd. P1070490

Painting our garage has finished. I had fun using up the last of our paint by doing huge snowflakes on the wall. Then the next morning I went outside to collect our trash cans and found someone's napkin in our front yard. Imagine my surprise when I found that the background looked just like our wall. I have covered it in plastic tape and put it with our pictures. Dan re-hung them and for now the garage work is done.

Dan is standing in front of an empty space. We will do another puzzle to fill this spot in. Dan was a college student working at Safeway, then he became a Radiologic Technologist and we both worked in Diagnostic Imaging at Sutter Hospital until we retired. The old framed photo is of his father's parents.

hang10tiki the Golden Monkey was made by MadDogMike! He's been with us for years. That is fun that you have another tiki place in your city.

Glad you like my posts. Cheers, Wendy

Robert E. Coleman bought all of my ceramic supplies, kiln and molds. To help him get started I sculpted a couple of mugs for him. We also taught him mold making with the first mug. He is now casting this mug. He said I should show the steps to the part I did for him. The sculpt and the mold.

He gave me the drawing photo of his idea to work from. I destroyed the last crawl mug sculpt and used the clay. Romo clay is so hard I use a hammer to shape it. DSCN1427DSCN1562DSCN1566DSCN1607

I sculpted and added clay until the basic shape was ready. DSCN1609DSCN1610DSCN1613

I then did the bottom. Today when I posted on fb it was pointed out that the year was 2021. That is when I did this sculpt and made the mold. I let Robert know. He can change the last number if he wants to. DSCN1618DSCN1620DSCN1621

The face will come next.

This is a fun project. I will enjoy seeing how he does the glazing. I will be there to guide him along. Ceramics are not easy.

The sculpt for Robert E. Coleman is a Pumkin Tiki Bob with a story that is his to share. Here are the last sculpting steps along with how I add a chunk of clay where it will make a slip entrance through the mold. He will hand sculpt each stem and add it to the top after he removes each mug from the mold.

DSCN1427DSCN1622DSCN1623DSCN1624DSCN1691DSCN1694DSCN1695DSCN3386DSCN3389DSCN3394

Up next will be the making of the mold.

I've posting very detailed mold making steps on my past pages. So these photos are to just show that Robert E. Coleman's Pumpkin Tiki Bob mug has been molded. We used it to train Robert how to make a mold. I have sculpted one more mug for him and hopefully this summer we will give him a final lesson. It's fun getting my hands back in the clay and plaster. DSCN3463DSCN3464DSCN3473DSCN3474DSCN3475DSCN3477DSCN3478DSCN3481DSCN3482DSCN3483DSCN3485DSCN3486DSCN3487DSCN3489DSCN3491DSCN3492

Robert E. Coleman will produce the Pumpkin Tiki Bob mug. He took the mold home and using fans dried it 100%. Then he began to cast the mugs and to add the stem. I'm looking forward to seeing his finished mug.

hang10tiki I'm hoping he has fun making his first idea for a mug.

Sacramento, CA Psycho Tiki D put together a tiki sale at the Elks Club on Cypress. We had so much fun. We also received many hugs from all our friends. It was a blast.
