Time to add some moon and stars. I measured painter tape to use as a straight line. Then I painted the line and then the stars.

I worked on the hut base and then I did all the torches across the front. Crystal took pity on my and I no longer have to add an elephant. There's still a lot to do.

We didn't even try for a room at Tiki Oasis or tickets. You never know about the future though. It's an EPIC event for sure. I have retired from the art show choosing to work on the Wish List orders. 2018 one of the last years of being young!!! Thank you for the wonderful comment on this painting. |

There are many steps to getting it the best it can be. Simple things like a floor in the event hall. Making sure there are enough layers on plants that they show up. I did a lot of that in these photos.

The original painting had nothing at the top and bottom, just black velvet. Crystal wanted sky, moon and stars. That means to balance it I need to do a foreground. I will add sand and plants that are close to the viewer of the painting. To start I add my name. Then I will build the garden to hide it. I've always thought that names on paintings detract from the art. Here's how I paint my name.

Crystal sent me a color swatch to use for flowers in her painting. I printed it out but as you can see it's not perfect on the printout or even in the photo I took of the 2 together. Oh well. I lightened the areas behind or near each torch then painted an outrigger in the background. Next, I will start on flowers in the foreground.

I searched an entire book on Hawaiian flowers and didn't find any matches. I will need to suspend reality to fulfil her wish. I picked out a tube of paint and will lighten it and try for a match. |
