Then I outlined each one for the top row. Then I rearranged them and did it again for the bottom. No two will be the same color. This is going to be fun.

Painting on real black velvet rather than velveteen takes a lot of layers. Just the steps shown in these photos took 3 days. In the end it's worth it.

I always thin my paint before starting each color. I'm always messing up and getting paint on myself. Oh well. The colors are showing up much better.

Next I did a forth layer of paint on every Tiki Bob body. They now have 7 layers of paint on the faces and 4 layers of paint on the bodies. Finally, the fun will begin.

Then the white is mixed for the center of the mug. The last step is to paint the face again with its 8th layer of white.

I haven't been around in a while and I just loved watching your Bobs come to life. (I admit, I was hoping for a print of job the primary colored Bobs as "is" but I love watching your shading and other details. Amazing work, and I had no idea re: absorption of paint by the velvet). These have way more layers than any of Hang 10 or I's old photoshop pics, that's for sure! Can't wait to see what's next.

Yes it takes too many layers on real velvet. The old black velvets are done on velveteen. It's flat without all the fibers of real velvet. Probably would have been a better choice for this painting but I'm getting there. 2 more days of layering. 7/11/25 and 7/12/25. Just a few of the photos I took.
