Dan-0 always looks so happy doing his slip shake dance

Will carve I think you have. I just looked at all 55 pages of your carvings and what wonderful work I viewed. The war club on page 45 and the tiki on page 53 are stand outs.

================
You can meet Will carve on page 41 of his thread. If you start looking at his work it's hard to stop!

hang10tiki you are so right. He's a happy man because he lives in his tiki dream world. How about you? What up in the Honu Hideaway that you could share here? I hope we will be able to visit you this winter.

================

Saturday Dan and I took off for a trip to Pleasanton, California for their huge antique sale down mainstreet.

On the crowded freeway we road along side this truck for 2 minutes before it exited. I thought it was a good omen.

We stopped at an estate sale and the front yard was full of these beautiful flowers. There must be tikis in our future.

There is one antique mall in this town and we had never been there before. The owner of this booth we had met in the past at this same antique fair but for some reason we didn't know about her booth at the mall.

Sorry I forgot not to turn my camera for these shots.

She had the most tikis stuff ever seen in an antique store.

It's a lot of fun to look at all the items but in the

end we didn't find anything here for Dan's collection.

Maybe next time. This will always be worth the stop.

At another booth we spotted this huge print or painting. It's covered with glass so I couldn't tell. The owner made me an offer I couldn't refuse. $100. The frame is so heavy that it took

Here's a close look. I want it to be next to our TV so that we'll think we are in Hawaii.

The next morning we were up by 5:45 am to have breakfast and get to the sale ASAP.

The lady who owns the antique booth with all the tikis was at the sale. She had this Sneaky tiki. Looking at it I told her I thought someone had cut a bamboo light in half and mounted it on this plaque. She said I must be right because she has the other half at home. Nope we didn't get it.

Here's what we did bring home. Front and

back.

The domino effect took place but everything has it's new place now and we are happy. I should have turned off the TV for this photo, what a mess.

Cheers, Wendy

You two have the most fun lives! You are obviously so happy making tiki art and your adventures are delightful. :)

Thank you for sharing it all with us.

Jealous

Love the picture and frame....great price.

LoriLovesTiki everyone who posts or visits here is what makes it all fun. Without you all I'd retire from ceramics and just chase Dan around the house. That could be fun too! You are very welcome, thank you too.

hang10tiki I'm jealous that you live in the most fun city of the world.

VampiressRN it doesn't show but the frame is a double layer of bamboo and super heavy. I wish I knew how old it was. The original price tag was on the back, $225. It has a bar code so Dan says it has to be later than the 70's or the tag came later. I'll never know. No artist name that I can see above the frame. I just love that it has the same colors as the Tahitian plaque next to it.

Guess what. Tomorrow I am having a surgery to fix a chronic pain problem. I have no idea when I'll feel up to posting. I hope it's really soon but I do know I'll be down all day tomorrow.

So while I'm down let's have another contest for one of my Puffer Fish necklaces.

I recently thought it would be fun to take some Halloween photos to post here.

Example:

The contest question is, how many different photos of Dan did I take before he said, "that should be enough".

One guess per person, first correct guess wins. The contest will run until I'm well enough to post the winners name.

One glitch, I won't post the photos of Dan until Halloween day. If you want to do some photoshop Halloween photos of Dan here while I'm out I'd love that.

Good Luck everyone. Wendy

E

My guess: Two photos.
Sending good thoughts your way ...
e.

Speedy recovery, Wendy!!!

feel better soon ~ five

Great Score on that palm painting.Wendy!
You kids have SO much fun
and STILL have an inhuman output of beautiful works.....
I'm going to guess 12 photos before Dan called for a cease-fire!
He loves you so,and seems always the friendliest and mellow of fellows...
I'm thinking he waited a dozen times.
That's my guess,and I'm sticking with it!
Miss you kids!
:)

T

Six! Good luck with the surgery, we're all pulling for you. And Dan. Poor Dan. Wendy, I'm not sure what you've done with him here....

[ Edited by: TikiAno 2014-10-14 10:23 ]

Wendy, I hope your surgery goes great and that pain is gone for good!

I am going over the top with 24 pictures. I always see sooo many pictures of Dan, I don't think you post them all either. Feel better soon!

Recover fast lil lady
Hope u r ok.....

I'll say 15 photos

TikiAno- ya beat me to it, I had the same idea on the Dan-0 photos

:)

T

Sorry, Hang 10! :o.

There's always more to come....

NB: That's Dan in the TV... Danoween has begun!!!!!

[ Edited by: TikiAno 2014-10-14 16:43 ]

I think you took 11 pictures before Dan had had enough. One of these days I'm winning a puffer fish!

Best of luck for an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery! We'll miss you while you're away from the computer but I know the boys will keep the fun alive with their mad photoshopping skills. I may have to contribute as well - just to cheer you.

Talk to you soon my friend.

T

You know that counts as Photoshop abuse, right?
if you want to do something really fun, try scanning in an image
of a twenty dollar bill.

T

Well, any photoshop abuse might be good abuse. Especially with Adobe's PS price tag- which, incidentally, is why I switched over to using Pixelmator for my business AND fun use, a great alternative that's a lot cheaper (PLUG!) and a great shareware substitute. Maybe putting a syringe through (in a friendly way, of course) box is better form of abuse, ATP?

I keep away from scanning US currency, generally not the best of ideas out there...

I'm not sure what Ernie is up to, though... ?

Lance- send me a 20 and I'll copy it :)

Day 1 and I'm already hysterically laughing!!!!

Keep it up guys!

I don't have photoshop on my school laptop anymore so I used Gimp for the 1st time. Not my best work:

Awesome

Hi friends, I'm off drugs and doing really well. The surgery wasn't as invasive as they thought it would be. I just needed on muscle severed! Kind of like Halloween except this is going to help me feel great. So lets see who won the contest.

Today I'm hoping to do a small amount of work on the Zombie Torch mugs for Mondo and Kracken. It's hard when you are in pain, I just want to sleep. But I know I'm getting well faster than I'd hoped. I appreciate all the notes. It's fun to have something to look forward to each day.

Here's some work drying in the garage while I recuperate.

Carving while watching TV is really fun.

After around 3 hours I finished the first part.

Out in the garage I did some scratches to age him.

A fly is checking out my work.

Silly name for a silly Tiki Bob.

Time to rest. Wendy

Rest, rest, REST! Don't push yourself too much. Your body needs to recuperate.

Go easy on the back
Love your super carves
Have Dan-0 give u a massage while u work
:)

T

Hang in there Wendy - hope you feel better soon!

E

Ooo ... nice Bob!!

lunavideogames I'd post even if I was confined to bed. I'm up and walking and doing exceedingly well.

LoriLovesTiki I'm enjoying carving while in a recliner. It's good to keep my blood moving. Drats is a really funny word, you made me laugh.

little lost tiki thank you and everyone for these well wishes. Your box has shipped thanks to my sweetheart.

TikiAno thank you for more fun.

tikilongbeach I hope to see you at the Dec. 6th Marketplace. If the weather permits we'll be there.

TikiHula another Dan acquisition!

ebTiki I like that comment.

==============================================

One a day that's my Tiki Bob goal.

I need to go out for short walks each day. This morning on our walk I found this plastic flower on the sidewalk. It reminded me of mini skirts I wore to 9th grade in the 60's. I brought it home.

I used it as a template and outlined the flower all over Bob.

Once that was done I went back and deeply carved each flower and added a center.

Here are a couple of views after the

carving of the flowers were completed.

Since peanut mugs were the rage in the 60's I used that design for the background.

I added some texture to the petals and the mug was finished.

He got the 60's name Flower Power.

Think Tiki Bob minds this pattern? Cheers, Wendy

PS you are all wonderful and I'm grateful to have you with me.

[ Edited by: danlovestikis 2014-10-18 20:54 ]

Great texture on flower power

Super cute Wendy!

hang10tiki and LoriLovesTiki I was in high school during the 60's and my clothes looked like this mug. It was a fun time with great music.

================================
I finished another Tiki Bob mug. This one inspired by the tattoo on the leg of the fellow I saw at Saint Marco's square in Venice, Italy this summer. I did the face first and then moved on

to using the photo of his leg.

I just started carving away.

Brushed it off and then

named it on the bottom. All done.

It's fun doing a Tiki Bob each day while I heal. It makes the time go by faster. Cheers, Wendy
