Jon, he can recognize Moais easily, but Marquesans sometimes throw him off- sometimes. Luckily, he spends a bit of time at the Bali Hai, and tends to study (stare) at the "tiki showcase" by the bathrooms.

He also requests "tiki music" in the car and now on "Alexa." Gotta feel bad for the kid, he's done for!

i wonder how many cousin bobs are in the world? i know they stretch from Europe to Australia.

I had a trip planned so I could have a break from work. The hand problem came up just before. The 20 days off did improve my hand and now for a week the numbness has been gone. Today I am typing and tomorrow I will start on clay again. Just in case this isn't something that rest can fix I will see the hand surgeon in June.

I took 818 photos so I am going to just show a few of them so that I can get back to posting my art.

The trip was a cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Montreal, Canada.

Our first surprise was when we were picked up to go to the Westin on the beach we were instead taken inland to a hotel in the middle of nowhere. It worked out because we got up at 3 am and went we got there we had dinner, showers and went to sleep.

Now it was time to start the trip and this wall art at the hotel was a fun reminder to be adventurous.

We waited at the hotel for the bus to the ship called the Veendam. The same ship and room that we went to Mexico on in the past.

The whole trip was windy and very cold. First vacation where Dan wasn't in shorts.

Often they blocked the doors on the ship so we couldn't go on deck. We didn't want to be blown overboard. We just played chess. Dan won every game.

First excursion that wasn't cancelled due to weather was Boston.

We passed the spot where the Tea Party occurred. They even have the two ships there that lost the cargo into the bay.

The rain stopped just in time for us to walk past this old cemetary and on to the

Church.

Here is the steeple.

Inside the church were all these family boxes. The more you paid the closer to the front. Each family decorated their box. Ours would have been tikified.

We can now say we went to Harvard University. This statue of John Harvard isn't him. A student posed for the artist. Mr. Harvard was too busy. The feet have been rubbed shiny by people wanting good luck. We were told not to touch them because they are covered with germs. I obeyed. For those who didn't I went around and offered them hand sanitizer. Everyone said, thank you.

As a science major in college I respect scientists and was happy to see that they are not giving up on informing the public.

We drove over the finish line for the Boston Marathon. It is being preserved as a memorial.

Back on the ship they played the Boston Marathon movie. Well done and horrific.

OK I've shown the first 6 days of our trip and here comes day 7.

We were the first ship of this cruising season. We were told no other ships were due for a month. So while it was cold and we had to use our imaginations as to what was out there it was fun to have places to ourselves rather than crowded.

The tour for the day. I like tender excursions starting with a ride on a lifeboat.

Today would most likely be an imagination day. We were to have many of those. The fog was very thick.

Getting on the tender boat was a roller coaster.

As a child I looked at National Geographic more than children's books. Since childhood I called these birds Piffins. On this trip I learned they are Puffins. I bought the postcard to help me keep that in mind. Nope we never saw one of these birds.

Dan is so kind to pose when I ask him to.

We left Bar Harbor town and headed uphill into the National Park.

The first stop was fogged in but there was a photo to look at so we could see what we missed.

We later hiked back down the hill to the Sandy Beach stop. The waves were crashing into the rocks with a roar. This was to be a favorite stop of the whole cruise.

The drive up to the top of the Cadillac Mountain wasn't cancelled due to fog so we went to see...the fog. I was the only one off the tour bus. The wind almost knocked me over. That part was fun, the chilling cold not so much. The guide said to imagine seeing down to the ocean and where our boat was waiting for us.

An hour later we were back to Bar Harbor. The rain was just a cold mist so we walked the streets.

It is an adorable town with lots of fun shops. In a book store we found SHAG's new book for $40. Dan said to get it when we are home so that it wouldn't get bent. I ordered it last night from Amazon, on sale for $26 if I'm remembering right.

Now it was time to get on the tender boat and ride the bumpy waves back to the ship. This was a really fun outing.

hang10tiki it should have been named Rocky Beach. Puffins rock too. I've never seen one in life but they say there is an island nearby where they hand out in large numbers.

Trip Day 8, 9 and 10 along the East Coast of Canada.

Day 8.

We were driven though the city to the huge market.

It was fun to shop. I bought some maple sugar candy which Surprise melted on the plane.

Many ports are industrialized and you can't get off the ship and have a safe walk. So we do the tours.

This is our second stop. We hiked up for a better look.

Someday I'll get a selfie stick.

The tours of this area are simple. We just stopped to look at a river.

Back on the ship we sailed away early. The fog made the view special.

This fellow is a beyond belief ventriloquist. If he is ever on a cruise don't miss him.

Day 8 at sea. Non-stop fog.

Day 10.

We see what each city looks like as we ride to the tourist spots.

Here starts the imagination tour. Just imagine how pretty if the trees had leaves and the flowers were growing in this garden. I just listened and wondered if he had on underpants.

We were among the youngest people on our ship.

We drove to the Citadel that protected the city.
Dan checked out the cannon.

We had a good view of the city.

We toured the Public Gardens cemetery to see where a couple of hundred of the Titanic dead were laid to rest.

I decided to see if there were any family names that matched our families. No relation just names.
My sister is married to a Cox.

My mothers name is Jewell Dawson, my uncle is John Dawson but this is Joseph Dawson and he shoveled coal into the ovens on the ship. Girls think it is Jack Dawson from the movie and each summer they kiss the headstone and place flowers until you can't even walk close to the headstone.

Dan's mom is an Elliot.

My first cousin is James White.

This is a Titanic story where the childs body was not identified or claimed so the men who did the rescue took up a collection and made the marker and hundreds came for the funeral. Now through DNA the child was identified and a marker added.

Just five years later a huge explosion leveled most of the city of Halifax killing more than I can recall. So the same cemetery has another spot of mass graves.

From the bus we passed many homes of this caliber. It's wonderful to see that they survived for so many years. Rock is the last little piggy home.

Before returning to the ship we visited a busy port market.

I always enjoy the art in these places. Beeswax casts.

Time for food and rest at the end of this long day and the same back home.

They were freezing

hang10tiki we were too. This is the first trip where Dan kept the heater turned to max 24/7. I had taken flannel blankets a regular blanket and 3 layers of pajamas and woolen slippers to sleep in. I did OK and never had to sleep in my jacket as well as all the rest.

East Coast Trip Day 11 Sydney, Canada

Last night was crazy. The ship was rocking so hard that our beds were bouncing. I told Dan to stop jumping on the bed! Turned out the sea was so rough that they almost aborted going to Sydney. At the last moment the ship turned to port and tipped. All the glassware and china in the dining rooms and bars crashed to the floor and the people had to be evacuated so the staff could clean it up. We slept though it so I have no photos.

Even though the sun was shining it was a very cold wind that was blowing so we layered up.

The next morning we were docked and ready to head out.

Our only stop was at this museum. It was full of donated items from those who live in Sydney.

It was really a wonderful and fun museum.

Dan enjoyed seeing this old record player and

we both like old horror movie posters.

The rest of the tour was of the guide telling stories as they drove us through neighborhoods. A lot of old homes to see.

Back at port we saw a huge violin. We had been told that it would play if they could find someone large enough to manage the bow.

Near time to sail away.

This tour is really meant to be done when the fall colors are out. We were just happy to see the sun now and then.

Having fun catching up on your trip pictures. When you were in Boston, I bet you saw my old apartment! I lived right across the street (and a couple doors down) from the Old North Church.

Well, Wendy, you know what they say- "if the boat's a rockin'...."

I ride my bicycle through Acadia National Park (well, part of it) in the late 1980s, pretty beautiful place (this was in the late summer so a bit warmer than you had it- though it DID rain the entire time we rode through Maine).

bamalamalu what a historic neighborhood to live in. I would have liked to have had more time there.

TikiAno that's a camper on the back of a pick up! That was quite a bike ride with going up hill half the time. I can picture you there.

Day 12 of our trip to the east coast of Canada took us to Charlotte Town.

Oh no, this one is out in the open for an hour behind a horses behind. By now Dan and I had caught a cold. Now we can progress to pneumonia.

We bundled up and they provided a blanket for our legs.

I don't know what I was expecting but what we did was just ride around a few blocks at the port and look at houses.

The big finally was to see this lovely old church.

After the ride we walked though the port shopping area. Polynesian Paddy and his wife always look for yard so I took this photo for them. They will go on the cruise when the fall leaves are in full color. We just had to imagine them.

East Coast of Canada Trip.

Day 13 was a at sea day. We exchanged US cash for Canadian cash. It's beautiful money my flash weakened the brilliant colors. For $200 we got $240 in theirs.

There is even a window.

Day fourteen would be a bus excursion. Maybe we wouldn't freeze today.

We land in Sagueney and then ride inland for 45 minutes to the next town.

We parked there and then it was time to wait until the tour would start.

In the ships library I saw a book on Chili. I pulled it out and we got to see tikis!

Neither of us could read this language.

There were artists at the port selling their wares. These are all wood carvings. Wow!

On the bus we drove through town and out the other side.

Chicoutimi is famous because the entire town flooded and only this one little white house was above the water line.

This was the attraction for this tour.

Below you can see one river that flooded.

Dan is so sweet to pose for me. He said he now had a frozen butt because the dino was frozen plastic. The same butt that is on Tiki Ano's swap mug.

All the business signs were in French. Even McDonald's has to be Café McDonald's to preserve the French culture.

Back at the port I took one more look at these incredible carvings.

We really enjoyed the salad bar on the ship. Only they want to give you way too much. Say, "I would like some red beans" and before you can yell STOP you have half a can of red beans in your bowl. They laugh and think it's funny because more is better. I can't stand to waste food.

It is so nice to have the fog gone so we can see the shore.

Quebec, Canada Day 15 and 16 of our trip.

We are now very far inland on the river. We will be here for two days. I cancelled our horse drawn carriage for the second day because we have bad colds and may not want to be outside long.

We are taking a morning bus ride.

The highest point in the city is occupied by a Fairmont Hotel.

That was where we were heading.

We traveled through many neighborhoods before reaching our destination.

The tour guide said she couldn't take us inside but we could sneak in for five minutes. We did!

When Quebec was being built there were not professional glass makers. The inhabitants tried their best. You can identify the oldest buildings, like this one, by looking for small squares of glass in the windows.

Quebec is a walled city with most of the buildings

old and interesting. We now returned to the ship and since we were having a rare sunny day decided to push it and walk the route our horse carriage would have taken us.

We went to the antique section of town first and found a tiki. They are made by someone in town. $300 but we didn't buy it. Reminds me of Disneyland tikis.

Dan and I love cats. We didn't go into the museum we were now headed to the upper and lower famous old town shops.

So we wondered around and enjoyed the foreign feel of the streets.

Exhausted from our colds it was time to return to the ship.

Day 16 we woke to rain that didn't end the entire day. The horse ride was probably canceled. We are so lucky that we did it all the day before.

Our cruise is on it's last day. Tomorrow we will reach Montreal and be on our own.
