Damn, these are so cool! Love the last one with the headdress!

WC

These are getting EZer &
going quicker.
It's EZ to try stuff with out
fear of screwing up anything more
than a frond.

Too cool Will, I'm going to call you and Tom Hans and Franz from now on.

We're gonna - CARVE - you up!

WC

So am I Hans or Franz ?

These are starting to run together &
look like the same carve over & over.
What is different, is how I got there.

The odd thing about these for me
is they have no back.
I have to carve straight in to them.
I often start my carve from the back.
Once I cut the arms I legs cut thru
I can see where the arm & every thing else lines up.

Interesting and informative carving from the back Will, I think I will skip the Hans and call you guys Franz and Fronds instead.

WC

This is the 6th one I've done in a month.
In 6 different colors.
This guy is the tallest at 7 in.
1 1/2 in wide.
Lil over 1 ounce.

I think you put his butt in the wrong location??

WC

That is too funny!
Now when I look at it,
that's all I see.

T

Looks to me like he really needs to take a leak!

WC

Yes, that's the I gotta pee & I'm happy about it look.
As opposed to the I gotta pee & I'm really surprised look.

Give us an update!!

P

yeah! ^ what he said...

Come on man - we want to see the big guy you're working on. Gonna try to make Happy Hour if I can sneak away.

B

Hey Willie, You are going nutz with these palm fronds, Looking good, kinda like you are finally learning how to carve? COOL!

Nice to see ya in the hood Ben.
So I'm back on the Norfolk pine.
Behind it are the 2 hair balls drying.

That's one heck of a frond Willie.

Way killer kool

Cool stuff with the fronds Will , look'n forward to see'n the pine piece !

P

niiiiice bro...

glad to see the neck stuff isn't holdin' you back...

GO BIG!!!

Carnage at WillCarve's! After noticing that the big guy was leaning a little towards the neighbors house, Will attempted to lower the big guy to check if it was still stable. He quickly found out that it was not! Even missing half the body and feet, this carving is still over 6' tall. The inside is nothing but palm thread. People ask if palm carvings can go outside - "of course they can! They just don't last as long". This one is extreme as he carved deeper than most and he had it standing in the wind on top of a pole. It never fell - but broke on the way down.

P

bummer... I always liked that guy...

and ^THAT is one reason I switched to cypress!

Bummer. still looks rad broke'n ,like some remnant of a lost civilization just lay him in the garden.

P

well done sir...

as always...

well done...

This would be one of my favorite carves so far. I am not sure if it is going to be stained or not but I like it as is. Love the previous broken piece also.

You ROCK Will!

Beautiful Will! Congrats!

It would break my heart to have a large carving break like that. Then again, that newest one should have you feeling well again. Outstanding!

They will likely be for sale at Hukilau

& perhaps some frond pendants.

Good start.

What you don't notice is that the log stated out humungous and he has reduced the amount of wood to what you see (which is still alot). This is going to be gorgeous when its finished!!!

I had missed the hairballs, very cool!
The rosewood should be beautiful when you are done

Trongos #1 son.
I'm starting to hear Fred Mac Murrays saxophone
as I carve this again.
