Nice use of grain H10!

Thanks CY

Face came out darker than I want
So I have to go back and sand the face a little more

Here it is so far

Done

Ok
Up next
Had this great piece of
Spalted Pecan wood for a while

Here we go

Spalded woods are so amazing- I'm anxious to see how this one evolves.
Sort of rare in the tiki world- at least that I've seen.

A few years back my wife and I picked up a HUGE spalded maple bowl from an artist at one of the local art fairs. The thing is nearly 28" across and 10" deep.
I think my wife loves it more than she does me, LOL.
To be fair, it does look a lot better than me.

Sand- the spalted does look great
Your bowl sounds massive
sounds more like a kava kava bowl
:)

Cheers

Lil more time on him today

Worst sound ever, slurp of an empty tiki mug through my straw!!!

I'm Glad to see you carve every day.
Every one you carve is practice for the next one.
It's how you get better.

Great new, improved work Jonny!

Thanks for the fly by Cy

How’s the temp on Frog Island?

Looks awesome Jon! Are those both Banyan wood? I like that grain, where did you find it. It looks similar to some Indian Laurel that I played with, makes sense because they are both ficus.

Thanks Mike

Full body is spalted pecan
(Got at our local wood shop)

Head is banyan
(Got on eBay)

Cheers my Bruddah

Peekaboo, I hear you

Off to Frankie’s
