Wendy- :) :) :) :) :)
I’m sure I could get some of the gang together for a reunion photo :)
Thanks for stopping by

So when I made the last Patu I cut out two.
That saved a little work today. Sanding went well.
Thought I would try a new stain that I picked up.
But 1st I had to play with fire :)

Burnt to a crisp

Wendy-
Funny
Already had a bunch of the more recent guys watching over the Wahine :)

Busy day

A friend gave me a couple pieces of cotton wood bark.
It’s awesome, light, soft, easy to carve.
I’m sure you all have seen the cool
lil whimsical houses people carve with this wood.

When I looked at a piece today,
Something jumped out at me!
Do u see a Moai?

I did
So...

That blue is cool.
I've had crappy carves that I saved
with the way I'd finished them.

Good job on the Moai.

Moai is super cool Jon!

Will- I’ve had crappy carves I’ve fixed with fire :)
Cy- thanks broski

Keeping some bark on
Looks like rock
Maybe he swam off Rapa Nui

Danish oil coat 1

ah man, that bark carve is neat! that's why i envy those FL dudes with access to the palm fronds. I bought some dyes myself a few years ago, but never used them. They're sitting on the shelf in my garage. However, I bought Browns so I guess i never had a need to use them over stains yet. Good call on the color.

hang10tiki did you use a wire brush after the fire on the war club? Or is that a paddle for when you misbehave?
The group photo is so much fun. You need to add the outstanding Moai to the group and do it again. Yours is my favorite thread to watch. I love knowing what wood you are using each time. Wendy

BigT- I hear ya, those lucky Fl dudes
And they have an ocean
:)
Get those stains out

Wendy- no wire brush, just sandpaper,
The poplar wood doesn’t have
that cool grain like cedar wood.
Here’s another gang in a meeting:

H

Time for lots of new shelves

Hilt- :)

I love your tiki gatherings. Digital photography makes life so much better. The moai is so cool. Wendy

Hi Wendy-
Thank you
Glad you like him

Next
Any guesses???

In the last photo I can see a dog howling at the moon. So maybe the top part will be a butt? Good guess??? Wendy

Good guess, butt no
:)
:)
:)
:)

It was a fun one

Knocked out this quick one
Abstract Tiki ?!?!?!?
Quilted maple

I LOVE the egg and turtle. The abstract tiki is really fun too. I'm so excited to see what's next.

I checked and we were last in Las Vegas Feb. of 2016. Dan says we can return in Feb. of 2021. Mark your calendar.

Cheers, Wendy

Thanks Wendy
Ok, see you here then :)

More Mango wood

Is this going to be a married couple?

WC

Mango is one of my faves.
Unfortunately,
I'm allergic to it.
It started climbing them as a kid.
I've carved a bunch of things in it
till the snot ran down my face.

Wendy- no, living in sin. :)
Will- that explains a lot
Climbing trees that made your nose run
Now, you take a chainsaw to them
:)

Cheers

T

Mango #309, is that like the follow-up to Mambo #5?

Exactly

I just had fun clicking on numbers to bring up different pages of your thread. Look who I ran into. Where did he end up? Wendy

Wendy-
Funny
I do that on your posts too
:)

He’s in the Garage
Watches me carve
:)

BB

That turtle is absolutely adorable.

Thanks Bamm
Dig your recent Moai

He's protected and you get to enjoy him as you work. Good idea. We all love the turtle, he has personality. Wendy

Mornin Wendy
Thanks
:)

hang10tiki what's up? First your tiki with a limb in a strange place and now it's the woodgrain that is unusual!!! Wendy

:)

Fate

Danish oil bath done on this one
:)

Sweet.
You even got a lil extra credit.

Just a lil
:)

I'm most interested in the second one being oiled!
