Yeah Thunderstruck is done by a lot of bands.
I love covers as you know and like the song but are burned out by the original version.

The one you posted put this movie scene in my mind...
A girl kills her boy friend and the song is playing in the background slow motion gun shots, then she drives away in a convertible through the desert in slo mo.

And scene.

Do you do that?
Get a scene in your head for some songs?

There's a song called "Angel" by the group Massive Attack and every time that I hear it (especially if I am driving at the time) I have an extremely vivid image of a heist scene. Complete with a night time arrival, casing the joint, taking out the guards, breaking into the vault, etc. Something goes wrong though and the alarm goes off, The crew grabs what they can and hauls-ass out of the building, but the cops are already waiting for them outside! A run-and-gun shoot out commences and the crew gets split up. They all jack different cars and multiple freeway chases ensue.

Each of the crew meet up with separate tragic endings during the police chase, except for the one guy who didn't even want to do the job in the first place, but he got roped into it due to some bad circumstances, and the song ends with him driving off safely into the California desert...

Absolutely! Music is basically my reason for living - I am the lead singer/songwriter for my band and also a DJ and producer of electronic tracks and remixes - and I am constantly contextualising and recontextualising music and imagining visual components to it. I can totally see both of those ideas to both of those songs!

Skip: yours needs to be shot by someone who lives and breathes atmosphere, like David Lynch or Wim Wenders.

CosmoReverb: I LOOOOOOVE Massive Attack, been spinning them in DJ sets since "Unfinished Sympathy" came out.

I do it the other way 'round a lot, too - my brain is always in "what music would be perfect for this exact moment?" mode, whether it be some sort of visual stimulus like a movie or some moment I am in personally.

T

"Absolutely! Music is basically my reason for living"

Music does get into my head for sure. At my restaurant I had I would play Slow Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin on rainy days and the place would move at a slower pace.

But On say Friday I would play 80s and even Disco up beat fun stuff, and wow the place really picked up.
Construction workers said they hated the disco but would pack the place on Fridays, Hummm.

So years later I worked at OSU and was forced to listen to rap type music and just crap.
The first day at one place I cut myself four times, the girl I worked with said "wow you never cut yourself"

That music was so negative, man the stuff they would say, the one DJ was talking about a 9 year old white girl that was bitten by a shark and he said "If you don't bite white you don't bite right"

Just listening to that show made me just angry, and heck they had like three different radios playing at the same time, loud, man I could not think.

Makes me think what is going on in yer head if that does not rattle you.

But then fights and murders that went on or were on TV, stuff that would horrify us was exciting, fun and even made these people laugh.

This is why I play happy and more upbeat stuff, even some of the Hawaiian type music can be too sleepy for me at a party.

If I had a tiki bar you would hear Thin Lizzy at least once a night.

"If I had a tiki bar you would hear Thin Lizzy at least once a night. "

Hopefully "The Cowboy Song"...one of my fave TL tunes.

Pretty cool Skip...Big Mike does have talent...great job on Joe Jackson. The clown thing...well...It all started when I was a young kid by watching The WILD WILD WEST, w/ that crazy Dr. Miguelito Quixote Loveless, who some how morphed into a clown and would chase me around a carnival in my reoccurring nightmares. My older brother still laughs his ass off about that.

As much as I love Dead Kennedys' original stuff, The Clash have them beat on the Bobby Fuller (technically Sonny Curtis, but everyone knows the Bobby Fuller version) cover-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL8chWFuM-s

T

I love that one too.
But I thought I already put it up, could be wrong.

Also they say "I fought the law and I won" in the Dead Kennedys version.

Do you have this got it at some tiki event years ago.

Don't care much for the movie, but I love me the pipes and Punjabi dancers. The fiddler ain't exactly hard on the eyes or ears either.

and as a bonus, for the under 40s (should there be any of you here), my favorite cover of Placebo's "Pure Morning"

Eve Of Destruction · The Dickies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLuCA2ZWJh8&list=PLKckQlnMZwKJaAxoNbxhCrnetXMT3tx7E&index=15

The Eastern world, it is explodin' Violence flarin', bullets loadin' You're old enough to kill but not for votin' You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin'? And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin'

But you tell me over and over and over again my friend Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

Don't you understand what I'm trying to say? Can't you feel the fear that I'm feeling today? If the button is pushed, there's no running away There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave Take a look around you boy, it's bound to scare you, boy

But you tell me over and over and over again, my friend Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

Yeah, my blood's so mad, feels like coagulatin' I'm sittin' here just contemplatin' I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation Handful of Senators don't pass legislation

And marches alone can't bring integration When human respect is disintegratin' This whole crazy world is just too frustratin'

And you tell me over and over and over again my friend Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

Think of all the hate there is in Red China Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama Ah, you may leave here for four days in space But when you return, it's the same old place The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace You can bury your dead but don't leave a trace Hate your next door neighbor but don't forget to say grace And you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend You don't believe we're on the eve of destruction You don't believe we're on the eve of destruction
