HONU...

here we go...

now the fun starts...

Worst sound ever, slurp of an empty tiki mug through my straw!!!

[ Edited by: hang10tiki 2012-11-21 14:05 ]

Does it have to be a real sea creature? I am assuming "No" but wanted to check because I am too lazy to read everyone's comments

hang10tiki that should go in the HONU HIDEAWAY. You need to swap with yourself. Looks good, Wendy

PS Sandra Dee you are not lazy

Lookin' good Jon, what are you using to give the background that rough surface?

Jon, I love that texture too.

Chip chip chip, sand sand sand! My guess, Wendy

CY, MDM, AND WENDY-

THANKS,
IT'S SCOOPED OUT WITH THIS

SEVERAL THOUSAND TIMES.
THEN SANDED.

JUST LIKE WENDY SAID...

(MY HAND STILL HURTS)

MAYBE MDM COULD INVENT A TINY CHAINSAW...
:)

hang10tiki you have, a very beautiful, someone at home who could kiss that hand and make it all better. Your pain was worth it the texture is terrific. Wendy

Thanks Wendy,
Ill pass the suggestion off to the lil lady of the house!

:)

A few progress pics - can you guess what it's going to be?

Pikey! Good to see you jumping in! Looks cool so far

Go Pikey Go

The elusive wild sea va jay jay.
Also known as the Bearded Clam.

I can tell that side is a giant clam. A big ceramic box to set a fish bowl on top of? Wendy

T

Tiki Skip, a Clam in a Box?

Jon, that honu is lookin' good ~ nice tatts

T

HaaaOOo!
I too can see it is a giant clam.
Was a shot at some harmless fun.

Clams in a box, now i'm hungry.

BT

Hey, where's the 'adult' filter on this thread??? :D

I got 2 plans to start with, hope to start work on both of them tonight. But one is a sight gag tribute on a classic mug and color is important, so I won't be able to post it until it's done. The other one will be comedic too :D

MIKE- THANX.
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU CAME UP WITH.

MORE "INK" TODAY

Hey, I see faces! Cool

Hang10 the turtle is looking awesome.

Tikiship I love the clam
I have been stalking this thread for updates like a crazy person cant wait to see what every one is up to

And this is what I'm up to so far

Anthony
Awesome tiki bar in the monsters mouth
Great idea and cool colors
As long as it doesn't swallow the tiki bar...

Jon

Double post

[ Edited by: hang10tiki 2012-12-10 18:04 ]

Anthony, I'd be careful about sitting on those bar stools :o
Looks great!

Hmmm... neither of those look like sea creatures

"Truncated Sports Equipment of the South Pacific"? Looks like a football and a bowling pin with both ends cut off?

edit - spelling

"Catch and release, it's tough when you use a spear"
Personally, I believe in "Fillet and release"
Pirate Ship Tree House

Hmmmmm

Where is the mind of MDM going with this????

:)

hang10tiki the tiki head tattoos on the honu legs are perfection. I love this design.
Tiki Skip more hints please.
Anthony Maye what a creative mind you have to come up with this.
MadDogMike you always intrigue me.

Wendy

"Tiki Skip more hints please"

?
I'm not in on this one, Got some ideas but got no time.
Plus the stuff I would do for this would time a long time to make.

Cool stuff so far though.
It's fun seeing what others do.

BT

I like my shaken drinks shaken not stirred

Thank you every one

and wow i cant wait to see where this goes maddog

Hang10 those tats are great- Very creative, Pikey I smell something fishy, Anthony I'm diggin' the Jimmy Durante tiki bar fish and Mad Dog Jacque Cousteau would not know what kind of sea creature that is going to be.

Glad to keep you guys entertained for a minute :D

The football in no secret, here's what I'm aiming for:

It will be offered with a couple of feet of cannon fuse that you can light in the bar when you want to show off  I'll have to test it but I don't think the burning fuse will damage the ceramic.

The bowling pin is not really a secret, it's just one of those things that depends on color to complete it. To show it unfinished would be a little anticlimactic.

In case you are wondering, if I do happen to make more than one swap item, my swap partner will be allow to choose which one they want (page one, rule #2 :) )

Classic MDM...

Always thinking

This is going to be sweet....

"I'll have to test it but I don't think the burning fuse will damage the ceramic."

In mythbuster fashion I will bet that it will, Not badly but I would guess that it
will leave a mark. (I used to make things with this fuse)

And where do you get said fuse?
I can't find that stuff, Plus the electronic fuse, can't find that now.

Great idea can't wait to see it!!

Thanks Jon
John, I picked up a coil (20 feet) of that fuse online several years ago but looks like it is still available. I didn't see any restrictions on who they sell to except that it has to be sent USPS ground
http://www.firingsystems.us/Cannon-Fuse-s/41.htm

You don't generally put underglaze on wet clay but I will texture through the writing after it's dry to age it.

 :D :P

Mike your keg is fantastic and I love the little puffer. I wish you could be here at the International Tiki Marketplace today. HB Tiki, Margi, Woo Hoo, and Soccer tiki have shown us a great time and this event will continue the fun. Wendy

Thank you Wendy. I know the Marketplace at Don's is always such a great event with wonderful friends, just a little too far to drive for an afternoon (I think my drive would be longer than the event  )

Primary sculpt for the Powder Keg is just about done. Now cleanup as the thick parts slowly dry, glazing and at least 3 firings.

BT

Great design MDM, the handle is very creative.

T

Very, very cool

that is awesome mike really dig it

HT

I'm hoping to start my piece this week. It'll be a carving, wall hanging, and will be my first attempt! (I may very well be doing a second, and possibly third! We'll see how it goes.)

Mike - wow, lookin sweeeeeeeet

Hale- lookin forward to update photos
