. . . .

Tiki Town Adventure Golf is a single 18-hole miniature golf course. It's half indoor and half outdoor. Although the greens themselves are not the most elaborate I've seen, it's obvious a lot of time and thought when into the decoration. Many of the prop items you see in the photos either move or make sounds or talk. Hawaiian ukulele music is played throughout. It's really quite good -- much better than I was expecting. I recommend it. Thank you, arriano, for letting everyone know about it.

Some practical information:

The correct address:
Tiki Town Adventure Golf
Belmont Park
3116 Mission Blvd.
San Diego, CA 92109
(858) 488-1971

There is a lot of free parking around Belmont Park but because it's right on the beach, the spaces do fill up. Do yourself a favor and get there before noon -- particularly if you go on a weekend.

Tiki Town Adventure Golf has a new web address:

Visit this web site before you go and print out the coupon available there. It will save you $3/game. When I went the man working there applied it to everyone in my group.

Wow, how cool! They did not only put Tiki on it (their name), but put Tiki in it! Somebody really must have had a blast putting this together.

This is what German miniature golf courses look like:

ALL of them! Not kidding.

Wow, that looks better than I would have ever expected (the San Diego one, not the dull German one). I especially like the crashed airplane. I'll check the place out myself once the tourists have gone home.

The German one does have more grass!

This is quite true. Tiki Town has exactly zero real grass. Most of the plants you see in the photos are also fake. All the indoor plants obviously, but also many of the outdoor plants as well.

Tropical Islands in Krausnick, Germany has miniature golf. That place looks like a trip!

In Germany, most miniature golf places are organized under the German Miniature Golf Association and the lanes are standardized to allow national competitions

It's sort of the antithesis to the fantasy lands of American mini golf lanes. They even post anti-doping rules on their website

OK, am I the last person to know there's now a Dole Whip at Belmont Park? This place is getting more tiki all the time.
