Classical music has done it all....

Ok, some of you know I am a big fan of classical music.....(and maybe some of you don't care one way or the other)...

But what I find interesting is that all forms of modern music have their root in classical music, and that nothing new is really new at all!

Here are some examples:

Rapping (as in RAP Music and Hip Hop) is actually a technique known as "Sprechgesang".

The "slapping" that rockabilly bassists do is actually just a variation of the "Bartok Pizz".

Exotica music as we know it was not really invented in the 40's and 50's, but actually had it's start with Debussy, who attended a world fair and was exposed to Javanese gamelan ensembles....and if you go back even further to the time of Mozart, there was a "Turkish" fashion movement that was very popular at the time (accurately demonstrated in the movie "Amadeus"....)

"Rap Music" is an oxymoron

all of it has it's roots in Musique Concrete:

Surf bands also have incorporated classical.
Originally covered by the Avengers VI in the mid 60s
But done here by a modern band. And others have done it too.
