Hey tiki nutz here's a site I think you will like.
They have patterns for carving pumpkins and other tools and Halloween shirts ect.
Check it out.

T

Zombie Pumpkins has these cool items.
This carving tool is built well and has six blades that come with it.
it also comes with a sticker that says you are a pro carver.
Plus stick and carve print your pattern on it, stick it, carve it.
This can then be pulled off or it also washes off.

Going to carve a pumpkin soon and will let you all know how this stuff works.

I like that!

Did you see the Frankenstein pumpkins that were posted all over the internet? They grow them in plastic molds. They also grow square watermelons. They run about $100 each so they're not cheap. A guy named Tony Dighera grows them in Fillmore, CA.

EJ

Thanks for the reminder and links Skip.

T

I have not seen the Frankenstein pumpkins very cool indeed, thanks for adding that Lori.
But have seen the square watermelons from Japan

Square watermelons

Also Heart-Shaped Watermelon here...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tydgE3RQxg

Plus the Heart shape Egg can be made here....
I can see Mad Dog Mike making these for his wife.
But these days who can peel an egg without tearing it all up?

El Jefe used to have lots o people come to our restaurant and carve as it was easy to clean up the mess there.
It's fun to get into the holidays.
Thanks for looking / adding more to come.

T

Some of the replies are funny....

+Sander Woldhek Yes, watermelons are usually $20-40 here. Japan is retarded.

+BodziuM it's OK :D but,
I just hate fucking Japanese
If you are Korean you will understand

Check out these pumpkin carvings from Jon Neill...

Okay, not Tiki but still, very well done...

Jon Neill at work...

T

Those are cool Hakalugi!
Thanx for adding!

EJ

Got my tool set today. Super fast shipping. Like Skip mentioned really good quality.

T

Let us know what you think of the tool after you use it El Jefe.

Here is a cool stand for your pumpkins it has a light and it rotates,
good for up to ten pounds.
But wait you could use this for say tiki mugs and other tiki bar décor
all year round.
They cost about $11.00 bucks each at Home Depot.

Forgot to add this it is a Halloween central type site.

T

Took the spinner thing out and messed with it.
Here is my take on them, they are kind of loud, think grinding
motor sound.
For me if this was in my house it would bug me after some time.
But it still would be good for a quick hey look at this and then turn it off.
Outside would not be as big a problem.

One more thing that bright led light is not bright.

T

Started my pumpkin.
First get your pattern.

Affix to pumpkin(gotta toot my own horn cuz nobody else is blowing it)..........

Use a poker thing to poke lines so as to mark where you need to cut....
The second rolling poker thing did work ok but only
on straight lines curves are hard with this as it can
get away from you, plus it cramps your hand up.
I liked the first (top)poker shown here best.

T

Here are the knives I use.
I like the wood one in the middle best.
Not going to cut all the way through on this one.

Here is the pumpkin after poking.

T

And here it is!
Need to do one more before party on Sat.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

T

Looks nice, tikiskip! Thanks for the pattern link; hopefully I'll have time to try some next year.

I managed to find this older thread with some Tiki pumpkins. Unfortunately some of the images have disappeared, but there are still a bunch of impressive punkins here!

Skip,

Thanks for all the links and for keeping the spirit of Halloween going. It has been sad the last few years as it seems the spirit has been slowly dying. This year it seemed like way more stores either had a smaller than usual Halloween section or none at all. Thanks again.

Not here I have seen more Halloween this year.
Maybe cuz I'm looking for it.
Lot o cool Halloween type TV on too.
Lets hope it grows and grows.

Thanks for adding those bamalamalu, and yeah I'm kinda late putting this up but
it will be here for next year as well.

AND will post other Pumpkins and décor after our Halloween party.
Did some cool ones.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

T

Here's some of our work.
More to come.

Ooh, I really dig the skull pumpkin!! They all look good.

We've had a bunch of crummy stuff going on lately and didn't get to do as much Halloweeny stuff as usual - Gotta get it together for next year. I'm not a skilled carver, but these are inspiring.

T

Few more pic's before I put Halloween away for this year.
On the rotating stand shown here first photo is a pic of
how I used mine.
At first I thought that the noise would be too much but in
this party setting you could not hear it.
This Dessert tray rotates.
And in the other photos the pumpkins have glass bowls in them to serve as
dip bowls.

Tikiskip and wife..........

Good night Halloween till next year!!

T

IT IS COMING!!!
Not the most sincere Pumpkin patch but it came up from
seeds tossed out after carving pumpkins last year.
We have about ten Pumpkins but squash beetles keep eating the pumpkins.
Hope to get at least a few.

Get ready carvers.

Skip, I like the white pumpkin skull! A plant nursery out here called Roger's Gardens sells a lot of different colored and textured pumpkins. The grey, warty pumpkins are creepy. They have an elaborate Halloween display every year. It's in Corona de Mar, CA if you want to look it up.

The Dallas Arboretum really goes all out for Halloween. I miss going to their holiday events. Don't get me wrong though, Los Angeles is Halloween central. It's impossible to attend all of the Halloween events here.

Dallas Arboretum pumpkin village.

T

Nice photo Lori.

Here are my pumpkins all grown up.

Also here is the pattern I am going to use.
Don't know if I will get the both or just one.

So many people ask me what a Tiki Farm is.

The front of your home looks very pretty!

Nice pumpkin art Tikiskip and that white skull is bad okole. This tread reminded me of a thing I carved a handful of years ago. It don't last as long, but with a real burning candle inside, it unexpectantly made the house smell pineapple sweet.

Also if anybody tries this, leave it outside because it can attract insects.

Happy Tiki Halloween!

T

Thanks Lori.
And I love those carved pineapples!
Is that is pine-o-lantern?]
Nice one creativenative!

Go get Pumpkins now.
Here is one of mine.

My neighbor went to school with one of the family members from Beistle.
I used to decorate my diner with old decorations from the 20s and 50s now they can be very costly.

But yes I do remember them.
I collect a LOT of Halloween too.

POEM BY WEDNESDAY ADDAMS

I have a gloomy little spider
I love to sit down close beside her.

She never knows where she has been’
Cause all she does is spin and spin.

My spider’s quite a busy roamer
Which is why I called her Homer.

She loves to work and spin all day,
And then at night she likes to play.

Her web is like my mother’s hair,

Her eyes have got my father’s stare.

She may not jump or twist or bend,
But a spider is a girl’s best friend

WEDNESDAY was a good dancer...
