tiki wedding proposal piece

I took the plunge this past week and asked my girl to marry me (then whisked her away to Waikiki for a few days!) A good friend of mine who dabble in art made this piece for the occasion. I couldn't be happier with the way it came out, so wanted to share it with the TC ohana.

I gave him the words, which come from the Cook Island dialect of Maori and roughly translate to "Let us be together always". The piece is about 11"x11". Hand etched/burned, painted, and stained.

Cheers!

My buddy Dan Usher is the artist. He's a frequenter of the ITMP at Don the Beachcomber, but not on TC. He's made a few other things, but mostly for himself and friends as gifts. Apparently I was his first "commissioned" piece.
This is another piece he made for himself a while ago. He doesn't call himself "Trader Dan"- just riffed on Trader Sam's since it's one of his favorite spots for tropical cocktails and this piece is out on his lanai.

Your friend is really talented. I would like to know more about the process.
