Sketching ideas.... maybe a mug with different images on each side? The idea was to use different styled tikis for each season (the spring Ku needs a whole lot of improvement, though...

Also thinking that going a little less silly might work better, too.

Other thought, using musical lyrics to inspire.

The Circle Game: "And the seasons they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time, We can't return we can only look behind, From where we came"

Ooooh, I like that Abelum sun!
I am looking at a 4-sided mug too :D

Nice Skip!

T

Nice. Skip's in!!

Can I join this sounds fun.

My first sketch tiki mugs and drinks for the four seasons thinking mixed media in canvas board.

Go Ano

Go Skip

Go Anthony (don't want to see you spill a drink)
So

That was hurting my neck LOL Very nice Anthony!

Hey Anthony and you other painters out there, I have a question. I just finished an oil painting class, the instructor would not let us sketch out our paintings on the canvas with pencil. She wanted us to do a brush sketch instead with a neutral color like grey or yellow ocher. Is this the "proper" way? Do most of you use pencil? Do you ever have problems covering the pencil? Thanks :D

Jon beat me to it

Wow you guys are quick I am self fought never really did any classes I
did a color theory nclass but that was it so I don't know

:)

Anthony-
Self fought :) very well I might add

Well men you have gotten off to a great start. That lamp is so much fun.

When I was in highschool at the end of the 60's everyone talked about

The Season of Love. Since the SWAP is ending in February that's the season I've chosen.

Since I'm working on Wish List #6 I've decided to stick with Tiki Bob. I'll be altering
him for this Swap.

All cleaned up and waiting to play.

Happy Holidays, Wendy

Ohhhhhhhhhh my
Wendy in
Sweeeeet

....been doing some brainstorming and research and settled on a 'seasonal' idea

Excited to get cracking on it soon!

I think I'm in. I'm just suffering from low motivation. Love the theme though, Mike! If I buckle down right after Christmas I should have time to finish. I have 2 ideas, one is a canvas dividing into quadrants with the same "scene" each one, adjusted for the summer, spring, winter, fall OR maybe a similar idea in clay, perhaps in bowl form. And I'd really like to try my hand at carving but this is probably not that time to try something completely new

Can't wait to see what you all come up with. :)

Its the perfect time to try something new. Who better to appreciate something that's out of your wheelhouse than a fellow artist. If it sucks, someone might say something - but I suspect the people on this forum won't be too harsh.

It's great that u guys have ideas
I'm stumped so far
Can't wait to see the progress pics start

T

I'm still... waiting.... hoping to have some time post XMas to start da work....

I like Wendy's idea thinking outside the (seasonal) box- "Season of Love." So many ways to approach this Swap- which means it's a great theme (and go so many different directions)!

Other options:

"Season 2 of Alf (when Alf goes to Easter Island)"

Hmmm.....

Tiki Ano that is so creative. Wendy

Still thinking
And thinking.................

At least I picked out the stump

That's a scary stump. How about Season of the Witch by Donovan. A great song from the best years of music.
Just kidding it's got to be tiki or a dog barking, bark bark. It's good to be back, Wendy

Welcome back
:)

Can't wait to see photos on the Wendy post

T

Great video Ano
Wow
So much excitement over a log

Guess I'm done then
:)
:)
:)

T

"Seasons of the Log," Jon?

(that's the Log Lady from Twin Peaks, if you weren't sure)....

:)

"When this kind of fire starts, it is very hard to put out. The tender boughs of innocence burn first, and the wind rises, and then all goodness is in jeopardy." LOL!!!

T

Mike, oohhhh.. good one!

(okay, last one). I'm going to log out now...

Nice

it's NEKKID!!!

Kahiki Claus.

Season of the schlong?

MadDogMike you are starting something.

tikiskip Christmas Season of Tiki. Merry Christmas.

hang10tiki I've seen you use that shape before and they were not X rated.

cy thinks it is!

===========================

With Wish List #6 underway I was able to alter a Tiki Bob for this swap and to sneak him into the next load I fired. In fact he is in the kiln right now.

Here are my step by steps and reasoning for the Season of Tiki aka Season of Love.

I made his eyes and mouth into hearts.

I made a heart outline around his face.

I think he just became a her and she looks like a space traveler.

She needs a space travel symbol. I started with a heart.

A half moon and a space ship will do.

I labeled the bottom.

All done and ready to dry and fire.

Now she'll be glazed along with the Wish List #6 and be ready to swap in February.

Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Holidays, Wendy Eve (that's really my middle name and the first time I noticed this)

cy- u went there
Wendy- lookin good

WOW Wendy!!! That looks great, way ahead of me :)

Thank you men. I'm going to have fun with glazing this one. Wendy

Mike, About your Oil Painting sketch technique...yes, we were always told to to use yellow ochre for sketching. Was never told why, I assume that on a stretched canvas a pencil could puncture it. They also suggested a lite charcoal stick for sketching on the canvas also. I use what I want :) OGR

Thanks for the info OGR, that makes sense.

"I use what I want" Now that make A LOT of sense!

Marq your season
:)

Great start Jon! After the tomorrow the holidays are over and so are the excuses. It will be time for me to git jiggy wit it!

Thanks Mike
