Must buy rum and UK

Pages: 1 1 replies

R

I am headed to Dublin and London at the end of the month to see my daughter who is studying abroad for a semester. On the to do list are Guinness and Jameson tours as well as a stop at Trader Vics. In fact, I think we are going to splurge and stay at the Hilton at Park Lane so I should be able to enjoy a few extra drinks.

Specifically related to this post, what are some of the rums I should I look for to purchase? I always try to bring home a couple bottles of liquor that is not available either in Texas or the US in general. Since I can't get liquor shipped to Texas, my options are limited so travel is a great way to stock the bar. Based on some research at Tiki Central and across the web (ratings on UK mail order sites for example), these are a few of my initial options:

Skipper (5 minutes of rum)
OVD Demerara
Duppy Share
Saint James Reserve
Westerhall Plantation
Cabo Bay (Germany)
Captain Bligh XO

I realize I really should be buying some Whiskey (which might happen) but my first love is rum.

Thanks for any input,

Rick in Texas

Well, I think I have a plan in place. I am going to focus on demerara, agricole and a bottle of something else.

Demerara

  • Woods Old Navy
  • O.V.D
  • Skippers
  • Watsons

Agricole

  • J. Bailey Rhum Ambre
  • La Mauny 1749 Ambre

Other

  • Duppy Share
