Hi team,

I just stumbled across this forum. I'm a jade carver from New Zealand, and manage a website where other NZ jade carvers can sell their work.

I had to share a carver with you. He is amazing at carving the tiki form and sure to become one of the best jade carvers in NZ. His name is Niki Nepia.

Check this out. It's a new stylized hei tiki sculpture that just landed on my desk.

What do you guys think?

That's beautiful! Do you have a link to your website?

I have just come across this group. I live in the UK just outside London. I have just moved into a new house wit a conservatory that is crying out to become a Tiki Lounge.

Are there any other UK based members out there who can make any suggestions on where I can start getting genuine Tiki style furniture, fixtures and fittings?

Cheers

Hello to all you tiki-peeps. Nice to be a part of so many interesting "Tiki" enthusiasts. I am re-new to this forum whereas I have not been active but had, at one time, been actively checking out all the many aspects of this AMAZING web.

I've been gone for some time...you know, taking care of life and doing my own creative thing but I'm back now.I look forward to seeing and hearing everyone's creative ideas and to share mine with you. Aloha pumehana for now.

Aloha! My name is Jason!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and ask those with knowledge of collectible Tiki cups to look for my post in the "Collecting Tiki" forum. I recently acquired boxes of vintage/new tiki cups and would love to know if I struck gold.

Hello everyone! MKissa here from Orange, CA. My husband and I have recently been adding to a small tiki collection we had already had. We are both surrounded by tiki everyday. Mine the (not super authentic) Islands Restaurants where I am a manager and my husband works at Trader Sams at the Disneyland Hotel.

I will be posting soon in the "Home Tiki Bars" thread as I have been refinishing a portable bar that was left behind by previous owners at our home. I'm headed to the International Tiki Marketplace Saturday at Don the Beachcomber to find a centerpiece for the front of the bar.

Excited to be here and introduce myself after a few months of lurking, and appreciating (read: drooling over) all of your home tiki bars, collections, tiki adventures and homes.

ETA: I post a lot of my tiki related pictures on my instagram which is also MKissa.

I was quite fun and the people were great!

Aloha, my name is Pierre. I live in the Arizona desert but pretty much live and breathe the island lifestyle. My backyard is an island oasis...in progress. I have built 2 decks complete with palapas, carved tikis of which there are 14 at last count. Since I lean towards the artistic side, I have started self teaching myself the art of slip tiki mug making. I've recently taken webdesign classes so that when I find time to stop carving, tiki mug making and what ever else comes to mind, I will create a website. The image below a logo that I designed for...Tiki Republic. A special thanks to Doug Horne for introducing me to Tiki Magazine awhile back. For awhile there, being in Arizona had me thinking that I was a fish outta water with whole retro island lifestyle thing.

The first tiki mug I am working on is almost ready and is my logo come to life.

This is the Tiki Mug of Tiki Republic Logo that I am working on. Logo at the bottom

Great Mug and logo Tiki Republic! I like the shark fins/waves and the color combination.

Hey all! After a trip to Vegas and Frankie's Tiki Room, I've decided to get serious about my tiki and so here I am. I'm an artist and hobiest potter and have decided to start making mugs and velvet painting. Gotta put those skills to use right? I've always loved the tiki esthetic and vibe. Comes of growing upin a 70's beach community I guess. Looking forward to learning and getting to know folks.

Cheers!

Good Evening! I joined up a few days ago, but I've been a tiki fan for twenty years, going to the old Trader Vic's in LA and the one in Emeryville when I lived up north. My name is Steve but I guess I'll go by Fez Moai here, since I wear Fez's and dig Moai's. And a Moai wearing a Fez is even cooler. I'm a fan of music, midcentury/modern, neon lights, flea markets, Huell Howser, photography, art deco, walking barefoot and hugging trees. I've hit up most of the locations in Southern California on Critiki and my tiki mug collection is about 45 strong. I try to hit up the local SoCal tiki bars when I can (Trader Sam's, Trader Vics, Tiki Ti, Tonga Hut, Tiki No, etc.).

That mug is beautiful TR...will you be selling any?

Shout out to all the newbies, welcome to Tiki Central...have fun!!!

Tiki Republic you have a real nice design for a great mug. It would look good in my collection also...

Hi folks, I carve wax that I turn into silver tiki rings, pendants and such.

here's a few other items:

Aloha everyone! We've created an account for the magazine so we can keep you all up-to-date with Tiki Magazine news, info and such. We'll be posting a new topic with all that's going on currently, where we are on the new issue, and a few other things.

Aloha Tiki Magazine,
Just curious- What is the plan is for people who had subscriptions that were never completed???

Thanks for the question! If your subscription still has issues remaining you're all set. You'll receive the balance of your subscription before needing to renew again.

Sweeeeeet !! Thanks Tiki MAGAZINE !!

Aloha all!
Jack here or as my new name suggests Keaka-tiki! I'm a huge mug, art and lifestyle fan up here in beautiful Tacoma Washington. I've been haunting around the Seattle rockabilly scene for years and fell in complete love with everything tiki right off the bat. I've been a regular at the Hula hula for years and just recently I've been tying one on at the Tacoma Cabana Rhum bar!
Been using the site as a resource for years and decided its time to stop lurking!

Very nice art work.

Hello,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I live in the Midwest. I LOVE vintage and retro items. I would love to one day have my house entirely furnished with mid century furniture and decor! I find myself drawn to items with island flair. I am excited to join this community!

Aloha Doctor - like the artwork very much. Thanks for posting.

Hello this Spider Mike in San Diego. Ive been around Tiki Central awhile but haven't posted an introduction. I'm die hard tiki freak and a avid Tiki Oasis fan.
As a self employed builder and artist I get to be involved in some cool projects around San Diego. I'm sure I'll get around to posting some here and there. I also have a vacation rental in San Diego on airbnb. check it out at http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1579313 Hope to meet some of you at TO14 this year!

Aloha! My name is Lopaka, From Kailua, Oahu. I like everyone here share a passion for tiki . I'm actually a Makau carver along with wood and metal work. I hope to share my art and get to know everyone here.

Mahalo Nui,
Lopaka

In February 2014 I went to Disneyland for the first time. My favorite place was Trader Sam's, where I spent every evening (and one afternoon.) The only in-park attraction I did more than once was the Enchanted Tiki Room. A new passion was born that week. I left with every mug Trader Sam's sells, and the two 50th anniversary Enchanted Tiki Room mugs. And an Enchanted Tiki Room Hawaiian shirt. Then I sat at a Doctor Who convention and dreamed of making tiki mugs of the 13 Doctors, and a tiki Tardis that is also a liquor cabinet...

I haven't been this excited about a new "fandom" in a long time.

Hello TC, My name is Miss Claire and i've caught tiki fever!. It all started when i came across tiki mugs at a vintage shop in San Diego called pack ratt records run by Mikey Ratt http://mikeyratt.blogspot.com, If your in San Diego i recommend stopping by. My interest and slight obsession has turned me into a collector and has inspired me to make tiki related art. I'm looking forward to being a part of this community.

Welcome folks!

Hello all....I was a member here before but its been awhile since I logged in. Had to re-register...I guess my user name was booted out of the system. It's good to be back!

Trader Sam's has some detractors here who think it is a fake tiki bar, but I really love the place! At night, slightly buzzed, either sitting inside or out...the place is magical, and even my friends who don't care for tiki or know about it walk away loving that place! I also bought ever mug and bowl they sell there....I totally get it! Welcome to Tiki Central!

Very cool artwork indeed. :drink:

Aloha! I go by SJ and I am putting together a brand new Exotica/Tiki band in the San Francisco Bay area.
So, i'll be hanging out in the Music area mostly. :)

I discovered this site a while back, and returned while researching band names. It does sound like many of the good ones are taken, but we'll keep plugging along and throwing out ideas for a new band name.

Mahalo, this site is a great resource!

Welcome to the board SJ. Would love to hear some of your music.
