I saw an episode of "Visiting with Huel Howser" that featured a senior ukulele group here in LA. It was wonderful! There must have been 40 or 50 people, all playing the uke! I'm not sure, but I think that King Uke was in the show too. Anybody have any info on this group, or did anyone see the episode? |

I would loved to have seen it!! 1999 UKULELE Join Huell at the Oasis Senior Citizen Center for a morning you wont forget. The Oasis Ukulele Strummers are a group of about 30 guys who have been strumming their ukulele's together every week for a long time. From Hawaiian hulas to popular tunes, you'll surely be tapping your toes. Click to Purchase this Video http://www.calgold.com/visiting/Default.asp?Series=700&Show=329 |

It really was a fun episode, I wished I had known that would be the topic and I would have taped it. But it looks like it is available on tape. It would be cool to invite that group of 30+ seniors to perform at next years Tiki Oasis!!! How 'bout it guys, book'em!! |

I just watched this episode, which is such a great time capsule, with Denny Moynahan/King Kukulele, group ukulele playing, and Huell dancing to "The Hukilau" (which is much better than his "Mai Tai Dance" at Oceanic Arts). https://blogs.chapman.edu/huell-howser-archives/2017/11/08/ukulele-visiting-732-2/ Anybody know if this group still meets? |
