The SF Guardian's annual "Best of the Bay" awards came out a few days ago-- and Tiki Bob (as in, the actual figure on Taylor St.) won for "Best Relic of the Tiki Age." The description gives a nod to the annual SF Tiki Crawl.

(see first entry, it's about a third of the way down the page.)

Also, see the "nightlife" page at

for another award, won by a particularly ferocious and furry Tiki Central accomplice.

"Forever untamed: Striking terror in the hearts of burlesque dancers everywhere, Gorilla X stands head and shoulders above the rest in the contest for Best Gorilla."

It's good to see Excellence in Gorillaness properly recognized. Too many Kong-Come-Latelys try to steal attention from the true apeurs.

Gorilla-X stops to visit very distant relatives on the Road to Oasis:

Sorry Humu,
but that gorilla looks like he's been Nuked Back to the Future.

Three cheers for Tiki Central and Tiki Bob!
