I know that many of us are interested in space age architecture so I thought I'd pass this along: http://www.sca-roadside.org/Seattle/Seattle.html The emphasis this year will be on futuristic architecture but "papers on any aspect of roadside culture or architectural history are welcome." Perhaps one of you writers could present a paper contrasting tiki, googie and other roadside architecture forms and any interrelationships as far as architecture firms, etc.

Dangit! It's happening just a few days after I leave Seattle.

I have actually been to an SCA conference. It was in L.A. in the mid-nineties. That was when I learned about the LA Conservancy and it's Modern Committee. It was a great eye-opener for me and I remember it fondly.
