I'm selling a 1956 GE Fridge: Would look good in your bar!

Hey everyone, I thought this might be of interest to you tiki bar owners:

I've got a 1956 GE Fridge that is in perfect working order up for sale. It's too much of a risk to move into my own basement, so I think it has to go to someone else who can use it. I have a pickup and can haul it to a business for freight delivery, but that's about it.. I live in Ames, Iowa (of all places) near a couple of interstates if any of you happen to be from Omaha, Twin cities, KC, STL, Chicago, it's not a horrible drive..

I live in California and have no way to pick it up. I'm just posting to say that I'm glad I live in a country where a refrigerator can have its own web page.

It's sitting 50 feet from me, and I can't pick it up either :wink:

I think it weighs over 300 lbs. It's honestly heavier than the Amana fridge we have in the kitchen that is twice the size of it. I wouldn't doubt it if they used asphault and lead as insulation back then..

The issue is that I got it off of my truck and into my garage, but it looked like a real-life rendition of one of those warning stickers on a soda machine where the black rectangle is falling on the black stick guy.

So I know getting it down my stairs would potentially cause a death in the family.. Either myself, or the fridge...

The good news is I can't get enough of websites like swankola. The bad news is that I now have a giant stack of unread newspapers and magazines in my living room. I don't even have time to read the funnies anymore, it seems.

I looked at a vintage fridge like that here a while back. I love the adjustable revolving shelves AND the wine rack on the inside that flips up.

if anyone could clue me in where i can get parts for a 1937/38 Frigidaire, "GM Frigidaire Made Only By General Motors," specifically the door hinge, i would be eternally grateful.

So please be careful on that regard."

I tried my best J$ to find something and no luck, did find this lil caveat.

This beautiful vintage all porcelain (original) cabinet with left opening door has a “Safe Food Indicator” in door, with Twin vegetable hydrators, Pull out wire shelves the Freezer compartment has its original ice trays. It has a 7 cu. ft. of fresh food storage capacity, and measures 31” wide X 24” deep X 60” high.

mahalo toa, i did talk with the folks at antique appliances - they were very halpful, but didn't have the part. i may have to just find someone to fabricate it out of aluminum... someday...
