Eathquake proofing Tiki Mugs

As I look on my shelf I begin to add up in my head just how much some of these trinkets have cost me. I'm sure it has been discussed before, but do any of you have methods for preventing damage in an earthquake? I have insurance, but I'd much rather keep my mugs safe than have to collect money from an insurance agent for them.

Quake Putty and Fishing Line seem to be the methods of choice.

Quake Putty sounds like good stuff for securing mugs anywhere (even non-quake areas). Is Quake Putty a brand-name or are there several similar products. Living here in Ohio I'm sure I'd raise some eyebrows asking for something called Quake Putty!

I have heard of it called museum wax as well. I have been told that you can purchase it at Home Depot(tm).

I use a brand called Quake Hold. All the antique stores in my area carry it. One package (which runs about $5) was enough for 25 mugs. I also use it to mount swizzle sticks to the wall.
