Dan Loves Tiki's - in the News

Pages: 1 11 replies

Hi,
Here's a link to a recent article in the Sacramento Bee regarding avid eBay tiki bidder and big-time collector Dan Cevola. I was interviewed by the writer and there's a small Tiki Farm shout-out.

Remember when you're bidding against Dan, you're actually bidding against sweet 'lil Wendy (shown in a photo in the article). I dig Dan's Tiki room - man, how many Tikis does Dan really have?

Mahaloz,

2,603...and that's just the ones she's bought from us.

Their's is a British Musueum of Tiki. It is, in a word, gi-nor-mus. Literally overwhelming in breadth and scope. It's so big, it...

Interesting story, thanks Holden.

My first thought was, "When are Dan and Wendy going to retire and sell off their collection?"

I remember waaay back when I said something like "Who the hell is Dan, and if he loves tiki's so much, why don't we know him?" (Meaning if he was so into Tiki's, why didn't he hang out with us cool tiki types here at TC?)
And about a month later, Wendy ended up buying a mug from me on Ebay. I was embarassed, maybe even a little ashamed, when she mentioned it. But it was funny at the time. It wasnt a 'rude' comment and Wendy knew that.

She seemed to be a really sweet person...but boy, you don't wanna tangle with her on Ebay!

Thanks for the story Holden.

Yeah, no kidding... Check out this one that just ended. (I just caught this debacle by coincidence)

For what it's worth, if cal301 happens to read this, if you'd have put your $128 bid in with 10 seconds to go you would've likely won.

Is that thing worth $200?? edgeoftexas bid $11. I was going to bid $20 but at 2 minutes to go it was already out of my cheapskate comfort zone.
