I saw these 2 threads, wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the matter.

(I've been Phantom of the Opera for about the past 12 years, might be time for a change.)

I saw these threads:

I like the shrunken heads, but what's up with the muscle shirt and legs? And those red shoes?

This must be the tiki god on steriod version of the costume.

I once made an easy and comfortable costume by getting an old apron, chef's hat and polo shirt and burning the edges of them.

a few parafin bits rubbed on the face in little clumps, then spray your face red (with waterbase paint) and black on top of the red.

nothin beats a burn victim at a party.

If you dance or if it's warm, the wax comes to life and blobs droops and sticks to the cheeks of people who hug you.

Don't forget the tongs and fork

I'd really like to see somebody exercise some creativity and make their own costume....here's an idea: How about using a bamboo parasol and some foam rubber to make yourself into a piece of pineapple with a drink umbrella stuck in it?

You might want to try E-Bay for a costume. Last year they had lots of different ideas.

Maui Tiki's costume (it was just a costume..right?)
is still my all time favorite tiki themed costume.

DT - where in Maui was this taken? Great costume. I have attended the celebration in Lahaina 2 times on Halloween and it is very much fun.

Looks like Lahiana to me but I'm not sure where on Maui. In the link I posted from a previous thread on TC, it has something written about a parade on Front St.

Have you ever attended the parade? It is lots of fun. Great weather in October also.

I think I'm going to wear a Cthulhu mask with a Hawaiian shirt, shorts & sandals, with plastic leis, kukui nuts & a camera around my neck and go as "An Elder God on Vacation in the Islands."

Ha ha! I ought to figure out how much rum it would take to make a Mai Tai of that size...
