Bamboo of China

T

I encountered this mug in an antique mall this week.

It is a super-common Orchids of Hawaii design, also used at Kahiki and other Tiki bars, and is also one of the Orchids designs bought by Dynasty and still available from them at wholesale prices.

BUT... this one says "Bamboo of China" on the bottom and has a number of BC-103.

Also, the sculpt is crisp with sharp details not seen on the many, many rehashes of this design that have surfaced again and again over the years.

My speculation is that Dynasty have revamped their product line and added the BoC label to their mugs, or else someone in addition to Dynasty has the rights to make this mug?

I am not a super-intensive mug collector, but I have never seen the Bamboo of China label before...

Any clues who they are?

this are photos of mine BOC...

note how the design is a step derived from the original... the lip ridges have turned into teeth... weird...

waikiki kitty found this for me at a flea market, and was sharp enough to note the variations...

Hmmm, They must have spent a great deal of time coming up with a name so different from
Orchids of Hawaii
