Crazy Hotel in Idaho!

Not tiki, but tropical, pirate ,etc! I wonder how many of these type of Madonna Inn styled concept motels/hotels are out there?

There's one in Chicopee, Mass called the Creative Pines. Bunch of themed rooms. Tarzan/jungle room, cupid room, etc, ala Madonna Inn....although I think the Pines is geared toward a different audience. They rent rooms by 1/2 days (but not by the hour....yet)

Used to use it as a place to party as a teen back in the day...get 10 to 15 people to chip in on a room, buy a handle of bacardi and a few 2-litres of coke, and drink till ya puke (or the cops come).

Neat place if you're adventerous and in the area.

There's also a place in my home town of Yucca Valley near the Joshua Tree National Monument (if any of you know where that is...). It's called the Oasis of Eden.

Not anywhere near as cool as that other place, but if you've ever been to Yucca Valley you'll know why.

I was checkin out the first place and noticed that the caveman suite is wheelchair accesible - for the disabled savage? or is that so you can go out and club a missus and wheel her straight into the room as opposed to dragging her?

Does this discriminate against disbaled pirates?

I can attest as to the fun and "quality" of the Reno Adventure Inn - round beds, jacuzzi tub, cute gas fireplace, and mirrors everywhere so you can watch the 3 channels of free 24-hour porn from literally ANY section of the room (if you're into that sort of thing). And, not too far from the gambling action.

As for the Tahoe Fantasy Inn, I stayed in the cheapest suite (the Princess one) once and wasn't impressed. Seemed a little run down; and there was a television hanging from the ceiling right between the bed and the bathroom which is a head injury and lawsuit just waiting to happen, especially when there's drinking involved. Maybe the more expensive suites were nicer.

Mr. Cruzin and I stayed in the "Arabian Nights" room at the Fantasy Inn a couple of years ago.

It wasn't bad except it was snowing and freezing outside and their water heater broke so we had no hot water (or even lukewarm water) for a day and a half. They did drop the price of our room because of the inconvience.

If any of you are into such things ... there is a VCR in the room and a place a block away that rents ... ummmm, videos ... to out of towners.

Lucy Poshek wrote a book that's called "Offbeat Overnights: The Most Unusual Places to Stay in California" that is a great guide to these theme hotel/motels.

Thanks for the book recommendation Cruzin! That's exactly the sort of thing Mr. S and I were looking for. AND, I just found a used copy on amazon for $1.38! ZAZZ!

Mr. Smiley, We have a hotel like that in Boise, Idaho as well, it is called The Anniversary Inn, I know my dad talks about places like that being in Nevada in the 1960's.
