looking for aloha fabric

Pages: 1 11 replies

OK - I did search TC and google and found a bunch of places that have cool, heavyweight barkcloth, but I'm looking for some fabric to make some aloha wear for the tiki oasis...it needs to be light and flowy, rayon cotton blends with cool patterns. The stuff I found was pretty run of the mill and uninspiring.

It's for maternity dresses :) Please help me out! otherwise I'm going to have to steal all of Mr. Pineapple-Bots shirts, and then what will he wear? I'll tell you what he'll be wearing, a t-shirt that says "I impregnated my wife and didn't find her any cool aloha fabric to make maternity clothes for our Tiki Anniversary in Palm Springs!"

Thanks :)

mrs. pineapple

congratulations!

here are some links back when I was looking for similar lightweight aloha fabrics to make pillows:

There is a fabric store on Wall a half a block north of 9th (on the West side of the street)in downtown Los Angeles that only sells hawaiian fabrics.

Free Island Style - ethnic clothing 216 E. 9th Street #A, but even better is next door Sina Fashion - Hawaiian Shirts at 214 E. 9th Street

A couple of places that haven't been mentioned already:

Online

And locally
Poppy Fabric in Oakland

Stonemountain & Daughter in Berkeley:

Theres this one too:

The place in downtown LA is Alens Fabrics. How many yards are you looking for? (I dont remember if you mentioned that) I may have enough left over from these fabric patterns

Thanks everyone! We found some really great patterns on the Hart's site that Dangergirl posted. I bought 2 patterns so far, that will each make a shirt and dress, so I can mix and match. I will be the best dressed pregnant lady at the oasis :) and if I can't partake in the cocktails, at least I can wear a cool dress with Mai Tai's on it !

This will be really fun! Now we know where to get fabric to make little jumpers for the baby pineapple!

I am hoping that Rockit Baby will be at the Oasis this year, last year I bought 2 tiny t-shirts that say My Mom's/Dad's tattoo's are cooler than your Mon's/Dad's. We really wanted to set the tone for the grandparents

Thanks again everyone these are great resources!

Just wear a mu-mu & hang this around your neck:

Hands down best price on Hawaiian style poly/cotton fabric is Fabric Mart. I've ordered on-line and have bought at their store. http://www.fmart.com/
The poly/cotton blend is usually $2.99 a yard.
