If you ever got a chance to see him, consider yourself blessed that you saw one of the giants! Bobby Short died after a long battle with leukemia. He was 80. He was based in N.Y. - but - he used to make a lot of trips to L.A. He was well into his 70's when I saw him for the first time. He kept the classic lounge-singer genre alive for several generations. What a voice! He will be profoundly missed. Good-bye, Bobby! Rest in peace!
