I was given a small picture or plaque a few years ago by a friend. He inherited it form his late mother and she was a women of good taste who had very nice things.
It is about 8 by 11 inches with a blue velvet background and framed in wood. It has various small sea shells, arranged to form flowering branches. It has tiny sticker on the back that says Phillipines. I have never seen anything quite like it. I have Google searched and come up with nothing like it either. I am sure it is not very valuable and yet I find myself growing fonder of it each year. Although it is not Hawaiian, it seems to fit well with my Hawiiana. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

I have a couple of shell art things myself. One is a small picture on a palm weave backaround and framed with bamboo. I'd say it's a 8x10 size. Flower in a vase design. also have a very much similar design, but this time it's placed on a palm weave fan. I like them. I think my step mom gave them too me. I have mixed them in with the stuff in my tiki lounge and think they blend well, alside of the fishing nets and and and such.

I am coming to love Philipino art more and more. It is neither as sophisitcated as of East Asian art or as primitive as Oceanic art but seems to blend well with either or can be a bridge between the two.
