Talk about coincidence, good mana and a cool story to boot, I was talking with my buddy Stan (a super cool cat and a fun guy to jam with) at the Brookdale Surf Stomp last night and he gave me his story about buying one raffle ticket for a Tsunami benefit, the prize being a Uke from http://www.kpukulele.com on Maui. Anyway here is the post from Jim Beloff's bulleting board at http://www.fleamarketmusic.com Posted by Ken from KP: So check this out. It's 1:30 p.m. here, I'm standing at the bench sanding away and the phone rings. This guy introduces himself as being Stan Parola, a friend of Mike Wolf ( a repeat customer) and I say I know who you are, congratulations...Stan says "For what??!!", I say "You won the drawing last night", He goes "You're kidding". Turns out he's just a few miles up the road in Napili for a family wedding and hasn't seen a computer to check the results. It was fun to hear how STUNNED he was. He called because the bridge on the uke he'd brought along had popped off. So he's on his way over, we'll glue the bridge back on and select some wood. How's that??!! KP The other funny things were Stan was joking with his wife, BEFORE he knew he had won, about picking up his prize while they on Maui. Also, The wedding that Stan was attending was right next door and at the same time the drawing took place! He was even playing his uke during that time! You got love it! Here is a link to the Uke Stan won, it's the model 3 at the top: http://www.kpukulele.com/kahiko.html Oh yeah, The Surf Stomp was a blast too! Always a treat getting to see killer bands at the haunted http://www.brookdalelodge.com Chongolio -- I believe that our Heavenly Father invented the monkey because he was disappointed in man." Thanks for posting these links Chongo. I've been a regular at the Fleamarketmusic site for about a year now. K.P. Ukulele is a new one. I think it's great that Ken Potts refers to himself as a "Luthier". You don't hear that job description thrown around in casual conversation much nowadays (I think it dates back to the middle ages to the pear-shaped instrument called the lute). Nice work. I think I'll go play my uke now. |
